Chapitre 48: Chapter 48

The sound of police sirens blared as we approached the blockade ahead. I gripped the reins tighter, my knuckles turning white. "Hang on, guys! This is going to get bumpy!" I shouted.

As we neared the blockade, a booming voice echoed through a megaphone. "This is the police! Pull over immediately and surrender! You are under arrest for kidnapping the Queen!"

I glanced back at the Queen, who was clinging to the Crown Jewels for dear life, her usually composed demeanor now frazzled. "Not a chance!" I yelled back, determination burning in my chest.

Revving the horses, I urged them forward, barreling towards the blockade. The police officers braced themselves, their hands gripping their weapons.

"Stop the carriage or we will open fire!" the voice bellowed.

I gripped the reins tightly, my mind racing. There was no way we could ram through that blockade unscathed. I needed to think fast.

Suddenly, an idea struck me. Focusing my ghostly powers, I conjured a ball of swirling energy in my free hand. With a swift motion, I hurled the spectral projectile towards the blockade, creating a gaping hole for us to pass through.

"Hold on!" I shouted, urging the horses forward as we careened through the opening, leaving the bewildered officers in our wake.

The carriage lurched and swayed as we sped through the narrow gap, but I kept a firm grip, determined not to lose control. In the back, I could hear the Queen's cries and the sounds of a scuffle as the minions continued to grapple with her.

The carriage lurched sharply as we made the right turn, the horses straining to keep up the pace. I gripped the reins tightly, my knuckles turning white, as I tried to maintain control.

"Kevin, the brakes!" I yelled, my voice strained with effort.

Kevin's eyes widened as he reached for the brake lever, but to my horror, the connection between the carriage and the horses had snapped. The carriage careened forward, the horses galloping frantically, their hooves pounding against the pavement.

"Oh no, this is bad, this is very bad!" Bob cried, clutching the Crown Jewels to his chest.

I could hear the blaring sirens of the police cars closing in behind us. We were running out of options, and the park was still several blocks away.

Thinking quickly, I shot webs to the side of the building, using them to make the sharp right turn. The carriage lurched violently as it swung around the corner, the minions and the Queen screaming in fear at the back.

The carriage landed with a heavy thud as it crashed into the park, kicking up a cloud of dust. I clung to the reins, my knuckles turning white from the strain. As the dust settled, I saw Stuart clutching the Crown Jewels, the Queen disoriented and disheveled next to him.

"Is everyone alright?" I called out, my heart pounding in my chest.

Kevin and Bob emerged from the carriage, their faces pale but unharmed. The Queen, her tiara askew, glared at me with a mixture of fear and fury.

"You fiend! How dare you kidnap the Queen of England!" she shrieked, her voice shrill.

I couldn't help but chuckle as I watched the Queen's face turn beet red with rage. "Fiend? Why, my dear Queen, I'm simply here to relieve you of the burden of those stuffy old Crown Jewels," I said, my voice dripping with mock sincerity.

I snatched the jewels from Stuart's hands, admiring their brilliant shine. "Ah, yes, these will do nicely. A fitting tribute to the greatest villain of all time - the Phantom Spider!"

The Queen's eyes widened in horror. "Guards! Arrest this scoundrel at once!" she cried, pointing a trembling finger in my direction.

Suddenly, the air was filled with the wail of sirens as a horde of police officers surrounded us. They spilled out of their cars, batons and handcuffs at the ready.

"You're surrounded! Put your hands up and surrender!" one of the officers bellowed through a megaphone.

I glanced at the minions, who were starting to look a little nervous. "Well, gentlemen, it seems our little game of cat and mouse has come to an end," I said, my voice laced with mock disappointment.

Gripping the Crown Jewels tightly, I turned and made a beeline for the legendary Sword in the Stone, the minions scurrying behind me. The police officers gave chase, their boots pounding against the pavement.

"Stop right there!" the lead officer shouted. "You have nowhere to run!"

I flashed him a confident grin. "Oh, but that's where you're wrong, my dear officer," I said, my voice dripping with bravado. "For it is time for a new ruler to appear."

I turned to Bob, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. "Alright, Bob, this is your moment to shine," I said, gesturing towards the legendary Sword in the Stone. "Go on, give it a try!"

Bob looked up at me, his eyes wide with uncertainty. "But what if I can't do it?" he asked, his voice wavering.

I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Bob, I believe in you," I said, giving him an encouraging nod. "Just dig deep and give it your all."

Bob took a deep breath and stepped forward, eyeing the sword with determination. Gripping the handle, he began to pull, his face scrunched up in concentration. At first, the sword didn't budge, but after a few seconds of intense effort, it started to slowly slide out of the stone.

I watched with bated breath as Bob continued to pull, his arms straining with the effort. Suddenly, with a loud, triumphant cry, the sword came free, and Bob held it aloft, a victorious grin spreading across his face.

In that moment, the clouds parted overhead, and a beam of golden light shone down upon Bob, casting an almost divine glow around him. A flock of doves took flight, circling above him, and in the distance, I could hear the faint sound of a choir singing in a high, angelic note.

I couldn't help but let out a laugh of pure delight. "You did it, Bob!" I exclaimed, clapping him on the back. "You're the king now!"

The minions erupted into cheers, jumping and dancing around Bob, who stood there, the sword held high, basking in the glory of his achievement.

I glanced over at the police officers, who stood there in stunned silence, their mouths agape. I could see the gears turning in their minds, trying to make sense of what they were witnessing.

"Well, officers," I said, my voice dripping with mock sincerity, "it seems you've been upstaged. I do believe the true king has been revealed."

The sight before me was utterly surreal. As Bob stood there, sword in hand, the police officers began to kneel, bowing their heads in reverence. Even the Queen, her eyes wide with disbelief, slowly lowered herself, her regal posture giving way to an expression of pure shock.

"All hail King Bob!" one of the officers proclaimed, his voice trembling with awe.

I couldn't help but grin, reveling in the absurdity of the situation. The minions, ever the loyal companions, quickly surrounded Bob, cheering and chanting his new title.

Seizing the opportunity, I approached the bewildered Queen, the Crown Jewels still clutched tightly in my hand. With a dramatic flourish, I placed the gleaming crown atop Bob's head, the weight of the precious metals resting upon his brow.

"Behold, the true king of England!" I announced, my voice booming with triumphant laughter.

The Queen opened her mouth, no doubt to unleash a tirade of protests, but the words seemed to catch in her throat. She simply stared, her face a mix of disbelief and utter confusion.

A few hours later, the minions and I found ourselves at the palace, gathered for the official coronation of King Bob. The grand halls were filled with curious onlookers and news crews, all eager to witness this absurd turn of events.

As we stood beside Bob, the former Queen approached with a pained expression on her face. Gingerly, she placed the gleaming Crown Jewels upon his head, her hands trembling slightly. The weight of the precious metals seemed to settle upon Bob's brow, and for a moment, he stood there, blinking in bewilderment.

I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride as I watched my minion friend become the new ruler of England. Kevin and Stuart flanked Bob, their faces alight with excitement and disbelief.

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, the sound echoing through the grand halls. News reporters rushed forward, shoving microphones in Bob's face as they peppered him with questions.

"Your Majesty, how does it feel to be the new King of England?"

"What are your plans for the future of the monarchy?"

"Can you comment on the bizarre circumstances surrounding your coronation?"

Bob's eyes darted around, his expression shifting from confusion to sheer panic. Clearly, the weight of his new title was beginning to sink in. I stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Now, now, let's not overwhelm our new king," I said, my voice dripping with feigned humility. "He's had a long day, and I'm sure he's eager to get settled in his new royal quarters."

The reporters turned their attention to me, their eyes narrowing with suspicion.

"And you must be the infamous Phantom Spider," one of them said, her voice laced with accusation. "Care to explain how you managed to orchestrate this... coup?"

I flashed her a confident grin. "Why, my dear reporter, I'm simply here to ensure that the rightful ruler takes his place on the throne," I replied, my tone dripping with mock sincerity. "After all, who better to lead this great nation than the mighty King Bob?"

The crowd erupted into a chorus of murmurs and gasps, the air thick with tension. I could feel the weight of their stares upon me, but I refused to be cowed. Instead, I stood tall, my chin held high, basking in the glory of our triumph.

As the coronation ceremony drew to a close, the minions and I made our way out of the palace, the Crown Jewels safely in our possession. I couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration coursing through me. We had pulled off the heist of the century, and now, with Bob as the new king, the possibilities were endless.
