The goblins were another cause for concern as they were like cockroaches, if there was one then usually there were at least a dozen close by.
What was strange however was that these were females and as far as he knew, female goblins were always in their clan's hideout.
Before he was able to delve any deeper into this mystery he had to defend himself as one of the seven rabbits changed target from the running goblins to a him.
The beast jumped on him with its claws ready to stab his chest but it never considered the spear in his hands as a threat.
The rabbit quickly regretted its decision as Paul instinctively sent some of his Qi into the weapon, as he did in the past while training, and the attacking beast was skewered in one swift motion.
The dying rabbit howled in pain and that caught the attention of the rest of its herd.
Soon only three rabbits were chasing after the goblins as the other three turned to attack Paul.
The human dropped the dead enemy from his spear and prepared for another round.
This time he backed to a tree to be sure that there were no rabbits behind him.
All three beasts attacked at the same time and one of them ended up like their companion, with a spear in his guts while the other two managed to land hits on Paul's arm and leg leaving three cuts on each.
Unfortunately, the spear broke when it failed to withstand the weight and momentum of the second rabbit.
This left Paul with only a stick in hand but it could still be useful and he also brought his club from the storage.
This weapon looked like a crude baseball bat but it could do some serious damage if he landed a hit with it.
Gritting his teeth from the pain he prepared to defend against another incoming attack.
This time there was a little gap between the attacks and he used it to his advantage.
Paul Bloked the first attack with the leftover part of his spear and smacked the rabbit on its ribs with the club.
The hit generated an audible crunch sound and the beast was sent flying but it left him unable to block the second attack.
However, he used the momentum from swinging his club to rotate his body and sent a kick that connected with the other rabbit's head, stopping its attack and stunning it for a moment.
This moment was its last as a moment later a club came down on its head crushing its skull.
Paul also finished off the other rabbit that was now lying on the ground unable to use its hind legs as his attack must have injured its spine.
-Four down, three to go.
Paul said, turning around just in time to notice an incoming rabbit.
He dropped the broken spear and held his club with both hands like a baseball player.
The moment that the beast jumped, Paul swung the weapon with all his might creating another sound of breaking bones when the rabbit was hit straight in the head.
The creature was dead before it hit the ground.
-Five down.
Paul said to no one in particular.
He took a look around and the two goblins were now cornered between the river and the last two rabbits.
He dragged his injured and tired body in their direction, preparing to deal with them.
The rabbits didn't notice his approach as they were getting ready to finish off their prey but that didn't last long as there was a sound of something cutting air and one of the remaining rabbits fell to the ground.
The other one turned around to face the threat only to be greeted by the sight of an incoming club that smacked it on its head ending its life.
-And that's seven.
Paul said with a heavy breath.
His eyes now turned to the two goblins who were sitting on the ground hugging each other and shivering from fear.
Only now did he notice that they were mixed blood as they had more human looks and ash gray hair, while the normal goblins were all bald and looked almost identical to their manga versions.
Also, the two females had red blood that was leaking from their wounds while all the other goblins even the mixed blood should have green blood.
At least that was what he had read about them in a book as this was the first time he had met the real thing.
-Please save my sister she is badly hurt.
Pleaded the younger-looking one of the goblin girls with tears in her eyes.
Paul was stunned once again as according to what he read even if the goblins could speak human language, their speech was rudimentary at best.
But this goblin before him spoke like a human would without any problem.
-I have yet to decide whether to kill the both of you, so why are you asking me to save her?
Paul said with a cold tone.
He knew that if he saved them and let them go then he would most likely have to deal with their whole clan the next time they met.
-I beg you, don't kill us and save my sister we will serve you if you do.
The young goblin put down her older sister who lost consciousness by now and she knelt with her head touching the ground while she pleaded for their lives and his help.
-And what about your clan?
Paul asked, there was no way in hell that a goblin clan would let two of their females become slaves to a human.
-Our clan was destroyed and we managed to escape.
The girl answered without raising her head.
Paul thought about this as if what she said was true then he could take them as his slaves without any repercussions from their clan and, to be honest, he was hesitant to kill two injured girls that were unable to defend themselves.
-You will become my slaves and in exchange, I will try to save your sister.
He finally decided to take them in.
The Goblin girl raised her head to look at him.
-Thank you.
She said right before she also lost consciousness.
Only now did he see that both of them were seriously injured and had lost a lot of blood.
Paul considered himself a man of his word, just like his deceased stepfather who taught him that a man is worth as much as his word so he shouldn't promise something he wasn't able to deliver.
Since he said that he would try to heal the older sister in exchange for their servitude then he would do so and as a little bonus, he would also try to heal the younger sister.
He cast a bit of the healing magic that he could on both girls.
It wasn't enough to heal them but it at least stopped their bleeding.
He wasn't strong enough to heal them in one go and his mana reserves were depleted quickly only to stop their bleeding.
To add to this problem he was also hurt but fortunately, his wounds stopped bleeding already and they were shallow so they posed no threat to his life or health.
-Well ladies you will just have to wait for me to replenish my mana.
He said to the two unconscious goblin girls while he got up and took a look at the battlefield.
All the rabbits were dead and now he could collect them into his storage space to keep them from spoiling as their meat was considered a delicacy and also their furs could be sold for a nice profit.
After storing all the rabbits away he sat down and started to replenish his mana.
He not only had the two girls to heal but also himself.
