MILES
I didn't think the meeting at the office would take such an excruciatingly long time. I had prepared myself for a busy day, but the hours dragged on, and by the time it ended, my energy was depleted.
When I finally checked my phone, the sight of Renee's missed calls flooded me with guilt. My heart sank a little as I realized how many times she had reached out to me. The first thing I did was call Fabino to check if she was okay. He informed me that she was already home, which offered me a slight relief.
I instructed him to check on her just to make sure she was doing alright, and when he told me she was already asleep, I convinced myself there was no need to call her back. She was probably better off without my voice bothering her at that hour.
