Ever since the incident with Axelle and the missing flash drive, I've been walking on eggshells around my family. I've become the darker sheep, even more of a disgrace than before, while Liam has risen as the golden retriever—the savior of the family. Everyone talks about my betrayal, but no one ever acknowledges my role in making sure the situation was handled properly. I lured my ex-wife to the bar—that was all me. I took on the responsibility and faced the consequences, but no one seems to care about that part.

Pausing outside the large dining room door, I took a deep breath, trying to summon the courage to enter. Just as I reached for the door handle, Grace stopped me.

"Are you okay?" she whispered, her voice soft and full of concern.
