If Daemon thought that his silence would unnerve Zina simply because she couldn't see his face, then he was sorely wrong. Her eyes masked, Zina made the best out of her lack of sight by stretching out her senses like the tentacles of an octopus.

Through the gesture, she could feel the tension that swept the air as the question rolled off her tongue. Zina waited for his answer, whether it would be the lie or the truth. But somehow, she knew that Daemon wouldn't be that straightforward on either side.

"You ask that as if I somehow managed to move the almighty, recluse Pack." He drawed the words like a tightly coiled serpent waiting to attack.

"You caused the rogues to kidnap me, it would be foolish of me to underestimate you, Daemon NorthSteed."
