Chapitre 91: Chapter 91 Decimated By The Void

"Why is it so strong? The information was wrong." One soldier muttered, his voice trembling with confusion and fear.

Around them, the ground was soaked in blood, and the soldiers' eyes, wide with disbelief, searched the sky in desperate hope for something—anything—that might explain the nightmare unfolding.

His hand trembled, frozen in place, but the memory of what had just happened was seared into his mind, never to be forgotten.

Artillery fire had rained down with terrifying precision, mechas bristling with weapons, followed by squads of armed forces. A single attack from these machines could level a building, yet despite the overwhelming firepower, they had been helpless.

A volley of explosions rocked the earth, and for a moment, it seemed like nothing could stand in the way of their destruction. No one should survive such an assault.

But then… it all stopped.

A simple snap of fingers, and everything changed.

The moment the sound echoed through the frozen air, the wind stilled, the snow stopped mid-fall, and an eerie silence blanketed the battlefield. Around them, the world seemed to hold its breath.

He looked up, his eyes drawn to a dark, swirling void in the sky—something beyond comprehension, something that shouldn't have existed. It swallowed the light and warmth of the world, twisting the very fabric of space around it.

In that moment, hope vanished. The void crushed their resolve, erasing any possibility of victory, as if the universe itself had decided that this battle was already over.

He squinted, hoping his eyes were playing tricks on him, but he couldn't deny what he was seeing. Thousands of their artillery vanished into thin air, swallowed up as if they were no more than pebbles tossed into a pond, leaving the sky eerily undisturbed.

High above, a figure floated—the being they called The Herrscher—gazing down with a grin that was equal parts mocking and chilling. She moved her hands slowly, casually, like someone amused at a simple game, taunting their every effort.

Then, with just a flick of her fingers, an explosion rang out:

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

A powerful shockwave blasted him backward, sending him sprawling across the snow. For a moment, he thought their weapons had finally had an impact. But as he looked around, he realized the artillery—meant for the Herrscher—had somehow turned on them, backfiring with devastating force.

Mechas, their greatest machines of war, didn't even have a chance to pivot. Plumes of thick smoke and snow filled the sky, swirling into one massive, blinding cloud that seemed to consume everything in its path.

In the year 20XX, in a quiet industrial town in Siberia, Russia's greatest unit of mechas—the pinnacle of military power—was brought to a standstill by the Herrscher of the Void.

Inside the transport plane, the tension was palpable. Not a single word broke the silence; even the faint sound of someone swallowing seemed loud against the hum of the engine.

Every soldier gripped their weapon a little tighter, as if holding it close could keep them safe. They all knew this mission was unlike any they'd faced—dangerous, and for some, potentially their last.

Within the ranks of MOTH, only certain soldiers had the resistance to fight against the Honkai.

These "anti-Honkai" troops were specially chosen, their very being resistant to the Honkai's mysterious energy.

But that resistance was rare, and not everyone had it. Some were seasoned fighters but lacked immunity; others had the resilience but little experience in real battle—like Orion Astra's squad.

"Um, may I ask your name?" A soft voice finally broke the silence, barely louder than a whisper. A young woman, glancing nervously around, had directed her question toward a white-haired figure seated near her.

She didn't know him by name, but among the sea of helmeted soldiers, only he sat calmly without one, his expression serene and unafraid. It was as if he belonged to another world entirely.

"Hm?"

Orion Astra opened his eyes slowly, having been lost in thought, almost in a meditative state.

"Oh, sorry to bother you!" a voice stammered nearby. "It's fine if you don't want to answer," the girl quickly added, looking a little nervous.

Orion sighed, catching the curious glances from some of the others. Out of the fifty troops around him, half were fresh recruits who had recently passed MOTH's demanding tests.

He wasn't sure why he'd been stationed with them, but he had a hunch: MOTH wanted to see how he handled leading a group of standard soldiers.

To them, he was an enigma—someone they couldn't quite understand but were eager to follow. Maybe they were observing him as much as he was them.

"My name is Orion Astra," he finally said, his voice carrying clearly through the cabin.

The words seemed to echo in the silence, the soldiers turning slightly toward him despite the sealed helmets that hid their faces. They remained silent, attentive, as Orion glanced at one who had spoken up.

"My name is Destobia," she introduced herself, and the faintest smile appeared beneath her helmet as if encouraged by his openness.

"Huh?"

Orion Astra's memory was sharp. This girl was supposed to join the MOTH after the fourth Honkai disaster. How was she here now?

And she acted differently from how he remembered. Since coming to this world, certain things he remembered were different.

Seeing Orion Astra's lack of response, Destobia quietly folded her hands in her lap, no longer pushing for conversation.

She was usually lively, but this mission made her nervous. She had seen Orion Astra in training and viewed him as a hero, hoping to leave a good impression. But her attempt had failed.

Orion, meanwhile, was the only one who understood the destructive power of the Herrscher. Though MOTH had killed the Herrscher of the Void in his memory, he didn't know how things would change now that he was involved.

He didn't know what deal he had struck with Mobius, but a light cone was becoming clearer in his mind, ready to break free.

If Welt Yang were here, he would have recognized it immediately.

A powerful figure with strong arms and an ice-blue lance stretching toward the sky.

That was the same force used to reshape the land of Jarilo-VI.

"The Creation Engine!"
