Geppard looked at the man in front of him with a complicated expression. When the familiar energy appeared, he thought it was Chief Orion, resurrected before his eyes.
In other words, maybe Orion Astra never really died but had simply traveled to other planets to train, all because of the man standing in front of him. This man was even stronger than Orion had been seven years ago.
The Silvermane Guards, who had survived the disaster, slumped to the ground. Some of them tore off their power armor, groaning in pain. After all, they were still humans, not monsters immune to suffering.
Everyone on the city wall focused on Welt. Although they didn't know the man's identity, his earlier actions made it clear he was on their side. When they heard he was the support invited by the Great Guardian, even though they were seriously injured, the soldiers felt a sense of relief. They all had the same thought:
"Belobog is saved!"
Using the same power as Orion did back then, everyone naturally trusted the man before them.
"Your Excellency, on behalf of the Belobog Silvermane Guard, I want to thank you for your help." Geppard, barely holding himself together, gave Welt a military salute.
Waving him off, Welt shook his head. "Now isn't the time to let your guard down. That attack just now may not be the only one."
"Not the only one...?" Geppard muttered with a bitter look as he sat on the rubble. A nearby medic rushed over to treat his wounds, while the severely injured Silvermane Guards were carried away.
After a brief treatment, Geppard waved the medic off, despite the medic's reluctance. "Go help those who need it more. As an officer of the Silvermane Guard, I won't fall here yet."
With just a single attack, the Silvermane Guard's defense system was almost shattered before they even saw the enemy. This hadn't happened in the past 10 years. If Welt said, "It's not just once," then the next attack might finally bring down this city wall that had stood strong for thousands of years.
"I will stay here until the crisis is resolved," Welt reassured Geppard, seeing the unease in his eyes.
"No, Your Excellency," Geppard shook his head. "I understand what's important. With your strength, you'll play a key role in this battle. Focus on attacking the source of the disaster. It's up to you."
Even though he was struggling to stand, Geppard's resolve was clear to Welt.
"You and Mr. Orion must know each other. We promised under a city wall that we wouldn't retreat until the last drop of blood was spilled," Geppard said, his blue eyes shining brightly.
"But with your current condition..." Welt looked at Geppard's determined eyes and said nothing more. He knew he couldn't change Geppard's mind. Instead, he focused on resolving the situation quickly to honor Geppard's resolve.
"Check the time—it should be soon," Welt said, taking out his phone. It had been nearly five minutes since he last blocked the attack.
Sure enough, as Welt checked the time, he heard a voice call out, "Uncle Yang!" from a distance. March 7th's pink hair was visible as she and the other two train crew members arrived, apparently having secured Cocolia's approval.
March 7th carefully avoided the soldiers on stretchers nearby. The smell of burnt flesh was unpleasant and made March 7th feel nauseous, though soldiers in the field had to ignore such things.
"Uncle Yang, are you okay?" March 7th asked anxiously, checking Welt for any injuries. After confirming that Welt was unharmed, she, Stelle, and the others relaxed a bit.
"What was that big white ball earlier?" March 7th asked, her hands nervously clutching her clothes and her legs trembling slightly.
"It was very dangerous," Dan Heng summarized.
"Then we can't retreat," March 7th said, determination in her eyes.
Seeing that the group was safe, Welt breathed a sigh of relief, tapped his crutch on the ground, and spoke seriously.
"I need to tell you something," Welt began. "You should get back on the train."
Welt's eyes were serious. The recent attack had shown him that the current situation was too dangerous for the train crew to be involved, especially for Stelle's first pioneering journey.
"I don't want to!" Stelle protested, as expected.
"Stelle!" Welt Yang said, his voice growing firmer. "The current situation is too dangerous for you. If you make a mistake, how will I explain it to Himeko?"
"Listen to me and head back to the Astral Express. Leave the rest to me. Himeko will take good care of you."
Stelle's golden eyes were filled with determination. Ever since she found out about Orion Astra's disappearance, she felt burning anger inside. She couldn't rest until she released that anger.
"Okay, let's listen to Uncle Yang..." March 7th said, holding Stelle's hand. She seemed to want to persuade her to leave, but her eyes showed she didn't want to part ways.
Dan Heng stepped forward quietly, standing alongside them. His pale blue eyes showed no sign of fear.
"You..." Welt sighed in frustration. He understood their determination, but he didn't want to put them in danger.
"Uncle Yang, I need to ask you something." Stelle's voice trembled, not from fear but from anger. She pointed in the direction of the stellaron. Stelle pounded her chest with her other hand, her eyes blazing with fury.
"It's possible that the murderer who killed Orion was that thing!" There was a stunned silence as Stelle's words echoed loudly.
All the Silvermane Guard present, whether injured, working, or on duty, turned their gaze in the same direction. Soon, anger reflected in their eyes, and they remained silent, but their silence was powerful.
Sensing the change in the atmosphere, Stelle continued, "When I first came to this city, I felt a vague, fuzzy emotion coming from the stellaron in my chest. It was a warm, hopeful voice. I didn't understand it at first."
A few tears welled up in Stelle's eyes. "But after I heard Orion's stories, I knew..."
"That was Orion's voice! He's not dead!"
"He's not dead!" Stelle shouted, her voice echoing with certainty.
With that loud shout, the silent Silvermane Guard lifted their heads. Two loud shouts followed as the armored warriors struggled to stand up.
After three loud shouts, all the Silvermane Guard present stood with Stelle in their hearts.
"Damn, I knew it!"
"No, I won't feel sleepy anymore if I say this!"
"That's what I've always thought!"
Even though the Silvermane Guards were badly injured, they still voiced their feelings in raspy voices.
Looking at the stars in front of her and the people behind her, Welt Yang knew that no one could stop their progress.
Seeing March 7th and the others in front of him, Welt's expression was very mixed. He knew that everyone on the Astral Express had incredible potential. If they grew step by step, any one of them could handle this crisis in the future. Although he hoped they would grow normally, Welt was not their parent but just a companion on their journey. So...
"Okay, I'll go with you!" Welt nodded, feeling helpless.
Facing such sincere people, what could Welt say?
Meanwhile, the huge dark shadow on the outskirts was advancing with an unstoppable force, carving up mountains and tearing apart the earth.
At this same moment, both forces were moving forward, unstoppable.
