Chapitre 85: Island Stop

The dim moonlight filtering through the porthole revealed the intruder's silhouette – the unmistakable pointed ears of an elf. He crept towards my bed, a glint of steel flashing in his hand. One of the crew was trying to kill me!

Had the captain sent him? Was that confrontation enough to warrant an assassination attempt? It seemed extreme, even for those arrogant elves.

Luckily, I had sensed the danger. The elf reached my bed, raised the knife high, and plunged it into the pillows. He pulled back the blanket, expecting to find my lifeless body. Instead, he found only a carefully arranged pile of bedding.

Before he could react, I sprang from the shadows, my sword whistling through the air. The blade found its mark, slicing through his throat in a swift, decisive arc.

The elf gurgled, clutching at the gaping wound. He stumbled back, his eyes wide with shock and terror, before collapsing onto the floor.
