Faux had his massive sword held tightly in both hands. His straw hat had since flown off his head revealing his closed eyes and the three scars that ran across them.
Despite the length of these scars, it did little to diminish the man's beauty. He still looked like the statue of a Greek god had been made alive.
He stood before a towering figure cursed with bone-white skin and a single blood-red eye.
The thin-lined circles that bordered its pupil, like a target were focused solely on him.
Filled with malice, the beast bore its fangs growling, with foaming drool spilling from the cracks between each fang.
It wasn't moving though. It couldn't move.
It had lost control of its body and was now in a tug of war.
Whatever Makima had done to be able to contest with a Calamity for its own mind. He couldn't help but commend her. What she planned on doing with the thing he had no idea.
But it had been a couple of minutes since the abomination stopped moving, which could only mean that someone was having the upper hand.
Faux couldn't even guess what was happening, he had been fighting the thing even while it fought Makima for its mind.
He managed to deal it a couple of wounds but those were getting healed incredibly fast. Maybe it was because of the insane amount of Calamitous the Abomination was constantly absorbing.
But either way, he had to seal it.
Unfortunately just like the Calamity, he couldn't move. Exhaustion had overwhelmed him. He was conserving his Will barely having enough to keep his mind awake.
His vision was blurry, his muscles tired.
"Damn it move already!"
Faux cursed as he gritted his teeth.
He had no intentions of quitting now. All he had to do was deal the final blow.
Unfortunately, he still couldn't move. He just stood staring at the wide red eye of the Calamity.
Suddenly Will hand began to gather at the creature's pupil. It was gray and dull only as large as a single dot, then a ball. Soon Red Calamitous Will had begun to gather around it.
Until a swirling mass of Red Calamitous Will was gathering around and compressing right before Faux.
He stared at it as it gathered only growing larger and more and more menacing.
"What?!"
He had seen the vile Calamity spit out red rays before but for some reason, this one felt different. Having nothing better to do Faux kept staring at the thing, red ominous light beaming on his face filling his heart with dread.
As his wounded eyes opened up scarlet orbs reflected off them, first. Then fear.
Faux was an experienced Knight, he joked around a lot but his skill and renown weren't something that was placed on him upon his ascension. No, it was something he earned.
So he knew what he was saying when he muttered;
"It's a spell?!"
The panic was suddenly visible in his eyes. He had no idea what this presumed Spell was capable of but something spawned from Calamitous Will couldn't ever be friendly. At least to his knowledge.
Could an abomination even use such a complex spell though? He racked his brain trying to find answers to his questions, then suddenly he felt something– something was going off all around him.
"One, two, three, four, five."
He muttered as he gazed unfocused at the abomination and its gathering Will.
"What the hell?!"
At this point, Faux was just perplexed. He had no answers so he called out to Sebastian.
'Sebas can you hear me?!'
It took some time but he soon replied in a low tone;
'Y-yes sir?'
'Diagnostics.'
'…'
'Right now Damn it!'
Faux yelled, trying to snap his Lieutenant out of whatever state he was in. He knew that whatever was wrong with the kid had something to do with him taking back the incarnation he had left on the battlefield. He didn't have much of a choice if he didn't then he would've died and the same thing would have happened.
But still, he could easily imagine the devastation that his actions could cause. The cyclops was something only he or Julian could deal with, given their experience. Who knows what havoc it could have brewed?
But then they were at war.
This mission had turned into a war the moment their transportation vehicle had been slammed against the manor. It started when an army of abominations and fellow knights showed up to slaughter children.
'Dead children… so many of them.'
Sebastian suddenly muttered.
'Hfmph… listen kid. Yes, there are dead children I can imagine. But there are also those who are alive if you want them to remain that way you have to pull yourself together okay?…"
It took some time but the kid soon replied;
"…Yes Captain.'
Hearing his Lieutenant sound of mind, Faux smiled. The kid was still a kid, even the government couldn't force that out of him.
When he gazed at the Calamity though he felt a different way.
'Diagnosis.'
Faux said.
'Sir the battle here is cruel. The first line fell. Julian and I are currently trying to hold the things from coming into the orphanage with the men we have.'
'That's fine. Now I need you to grab the kids you have and leave. Run as far away as possible east.'
'Sir but there's the mission?'
'Screw the mission. Get those kids to safety.'
'And you Sir?'
'…I'll radio when I need you.'
With that Faux disconnected.
He was still staring at the abomination as the red mass only grew larger. Unfortunately, he still couldn't move his body.
He gritted his teeth and pushed but his muscles wouldn't budge.
Larger pieces of the frozen scale had already begun to break off the earth and hover in the air. Even the lake that lay not too far from him had begun to surge with the pieces of its frozen caps and large bodies of water rose into the air.
It was like something unnatural was about to occur. The feeling was ominous but familiar.
He could still sense the five other Calamitous Wills that circled the abomination and it's Will. He was certain of it not being some accident.
The Will was becoming far too unstable for Faux, moments before it poured out like a stream of death, Faux sighed and pulled on his Will.
Moments later the space he occupied was consumed by blinding, red-hot Will.
