Drake's POV:

 As Lucas finished speaking, I felt a wave of anger and confusion crash over me. Alpha Vanvil was killed the night Lily came to our pack. The ones chasing her, apparently from the Blood Moon Pack, were on a mission to avenge him. I could barely believe it. Leila had asked me to destroy that very pack, yet she hadn't trusted me enough to tell me that she'd already taken down their Alpha. Why was she so bent on giving me half-truths? Why didn't she trust me?

 I was furious. We'd mated, marked each other, and yet she was still hiding her true identity from me. The mark, which should have been a symbol of our trust and bond, was now a bitter reminder of her secrets. She was no ordinary wolf—of that, I was certain. But how could a mere wolf, even one as remarkable as Leila, kill an Alpha and escape unscathed?
