Ave woke up the next morning feeling a bit gloomy and tired because she hadn't slept well last night, despite the fact that she had hoped to sleep better here. She sat on the bed with pursed lips as she stared at the swaying curtains of Selene's room in the doomed palace. She had waited last night for Lucian to come here as she'd met Zane in the evening when he returned and she'd told him to tell Lucian that she was here tonight in case he was looking for her.

Ave was afraid to fall asleep last night because she didn't want to be transported into the night creatures' world again like the last time she had slept alone without a certain someone beside her, holding her to sleep.
