Chapitre 268: Chapter 268: A Special Valentine's Day

William White was genuinely troubled. He didn't want to do this. Breaking up was easy, but what about the management team? First, there was the issue of trust; then, there was the assessment of capability. Finally, a significant increase in management costs was nearly inevitable.

And this was just the first step. Disney and White System would also face breakup problems next. He had already decided that each company would focus on one product and definitely wouldn't engage in diversification.

...

Big Blue was quite upset; they initially had a distraction but now were faced with this situation. William White could do it, but they couldn't.

Now they were sure that following the completion of these breakups, William White's shareholding would also decrease. By then, the burden might fall on investors.

...

Larry Ellison didn't expect it. He was already planning to mix in Hollywood, but the White System extended an olive branch.

Well, this database company was much bigger than his previous company. As a person with aspirations, he believed he could compromise. Although William White was arrogant, he was also generous.

"Alright, I agree. Can I ask why me?"

"Ha, Mr. White said Larry is capable but picked the wrong opponent and the wrong time. Ten years later, he might not win."

"Oh, so that's it. No wonder there are so many restrictions on me."

"Yes, the more restrictions, the greater the capacity. That's how it is internally in the company. Ordinary tech employees basically don't have any non-compete clauses; those with outstanding abilities face harsher restrictions, but correspondingly, the benefits are abundant."

William White was honestly at the end of his rope. He wanted to get the database going, but his skills were what they were. Fortunately, he had ways to find capable people.

...

"Paul, do you think we have a chance to integrate White System's office software?"

"Bill, it's unlikely right now. We aren't strong enough, but I believe we'll get there someday."

"Yes, our Windows 1.0 beta is ready. It'll be a good start."

William White wanted to tell him, "Kid, you're overthinking it. Until Windows 3.0, your stuff is trash."

However, he wouldn't refuse if the office suite were to be acquired. In this, he was different from Bill Gates; he was just a businessman without any sentimentality.

Alright, his sentiments were all poured into Hollywood, including his excess energy. As for other industries, forget it.

Bill Gates was fantasizing about White's office software, and William White was eying his Microsoft shares. The world is just that curious -- some people always think someone else's stuff is the best.

Public companies still needed to follow procedures, but for other companies, it didn't matter. Anyway, William White's movies were already done, and no big productions were immediately upcoming. At this time, focusing on splitting up companies was fine, also giving those bastards a taste of his resolve.

...

"This movie is beautifully shot. I want you to be like that too."

Just recently tormented by the film Basic Instinct, a group of eager moviegoers experienced another startling blow.

"Whoa, did William White direct this movie? How come the protagonist just dies? How's this going to work?"

"Shut up, didn't you look at the movie title? Don't you know what ghosts are?"

"Shush, watch the movie."

As the plot unfolded, the theater calmed down, and faint sounds of sniffling could be heard in the background.

For a movie to make both the women tear up and the macho guys get misty-eyed, it goes without saying that this film was a success.

...

Some Hollywood big shots were a bit resentful.

Darn it, is it really okay to be so sentimental? William White, that bastard, how shameless can you get? Even death can't stop love.

Wait a minute, hey, you guys, bring over those tragic storyboards. This is just ridiculous; his comedies are great, but his tragedies can also be this good? And there's no laughter to be heard from the audience, it's really unfair.

...

On this Valentine's night, people, both the men and women, who left with their hearts full of soul-stirring emotion from William White's film, felt some discontent yet had to admit it was indeed a good movie.

"Who's that girl? She's so pretty."

"Don't get your hopes up, she's already been swept up by William White."

"Damn, how does that bastard stay so busy?"

Okay then, William White faced scorn once more. There's no helping it; with beautiful women all around him, it's too much. Buddy, leave some for the rest of us at least.

William White would likely tell those fools that women are like pigeons in the sky; whoever tricks them down gets them. Guys, even if I don't make a move, it's unlikely you'd stand a chance.

This particular Valentine's Day truly left a lasting impression. William White, that bastard, couldn't he have arranged a happy ending instead of crafting such a cruel ghostly path? It's really hateful.

The more people complained, the more flocked to the theaters, eager to see what a movie requiring more than one packet of tissues was like.

...

The French, though not very fond of him, still contributed significantly to the box office. There's no longer much envy from other film companies as there's no comparison. Given their distaste, it's unclear why they still went to see the movie.

The French claimed they were watching critically, primarily to make snarky remarks.

In truth, William White hadn't wronged them. The so-called Disneyland wasn't something they cared about. They have their own childhood memories, which definitely don't involve that darn mouse.

...

In fact, the U.S. Department of Education wasn't a fan of that mouse either. They even proposed that the mouse shouldn't be cartoon-ified, fearing it might confuse children and disrupt their understanding.

Teletubbies were fine; they were suitable for children. SpongeBob was deemed too mature and often carried nonsensical messages.

William White was speechless. How was this different from The Simpsons? This was meant for adults. If this is unacceptable, should I even bother making future animations?
