I barely slept that night, tossing, and turning until Laurene finally scolded me for keeping her awake. My mind was too restless, knowing I would be leaving the country for Comoros to check on the accounts I had opened to hide my money. The truth weighed heavily on me: I had used Eli's name to open those accounts.

When he turned eighteen, I had him sign documents under the guise that they were for Will & Marks. He had no idea what he was truly signing, and since he shared my last name, the bank tellers in Comoros never questioned a thing. Eli was under my control, and that made everything so easy.
