"Of course, not, hahaha. That was so lovely, husband. But I will go now. Work is calling right now." She forced a smile, taking herself back to reality. Of course, she knew that kiss was nothing, just a facade to show his assistant that they were lovely married. She noticed what followed his demeanor and only she could understand not Jorge. She gritted her teeth and finally forced her feet far away from them, heading to her office.
Jorge walked behind William as they now headed to William's office.
Inside the office, William made himself comfortable on his luxurious chair and looked up at Jorge.
"Sir, here's your schedule for today. Also you said you needed me to go through those numbers for you, here's the report." Jorge said handing a sheet of paper to William as he sat down.
William adjusted on his chair and went through the paper Jorge handed to him while Jorge was still standing across his desk, holding his arms at his back and waiting for a response from his boss.
"Okay, very well. This isn't bad at all." William sneered.
"Yes sir, the company's sales have increased by five percent."
"You call that an improvement?" William asked sarcastically. While rubbing his hand against his chin with his gaze still on the paper, he asked "Have you contacted my lawyer to prepare the originals of the documents for the deal with Micheal McKellen's company?"
"Yes sir, they will be ready before the week runs out."
"Okay then. In that case, you may leave now."
"Yes sir." Jorge excused himself leaving William alone in the office.
After hours of work, work time finally came to an end. Most of the employees had already left. William arranged his things as he walked towards the elevator expecting to see Catherine by the car door waiting for him.
Before he could tap on the elevator door, he felt a light pull on his suit elbow patch. He turned around to see Catherine standing before him.
"I have extra work to do so I'll have to spend extra hours at the office." Catherine tried hard to hide the fear in her voice as she spoke to him.
Her voice almost trembled. She didn't want it to be obvious that she wanted to go snoop around in his office, something she wasn't supposed to be doing.
William furrowed his brows at her, "What's that supposed to mean?" He asked.
"I'll head home later today." Catherine explained herself. William paused for a moment and thought to himself. Then that will give him the opportunity to go see his girlfriend Vanessa at her place or something. "Okay, whatever." He immediately agreed, gladly.
"Truth is, I don't really care? Do whatever you want okay?" He winked at her before proceeding to the elevator.
After he left, Catherine exhaled sharply. 'I guess he's just too dumb to notice anything different." Catherine muttered to herself. Maybe he is not, you never can tell what next such a man can do. She returned to her office and made sure everybody had left including Jorge, William's assistant.
When everywhere went quiet and she heard the sound of the lights go off, she instantly stole the opportunity. She made her way to William's office but unfortunately, the doors were locked. "Fuck!" She cursed quietly.
To unlock the door, she needed either his fingerprint or a passcode. She guessed the code would have something to do with the phone number of a special person in his life no doubt. Who was it? She thought and guessed. His mother?
Catherine remembered how he so much respected her, much of the reason he agreed to their marriage. That's it! Just a try can work! She went through her phone and found Michelle Bentley's phone number and put it in.
At one go, it came out correct. The door beeped and opened automatically. "Yes!" Catherine rejoiced quietly. That was the first time she stepped foot in William's office. With the help of her phone flashlight application, she was able to look around his office.
She slid her index finger against his large desk as she made her way to his office chair. While at it, she noticed a very large frame of himself hanging over his chair, multiple award plaques were hung on his wall as well.
While she was still reading through some unnecessary documents and folders on his desk still in search for that one particular document he was talking about with Mr. Dunlop. Suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching. 'Shit! Shit! Shit!' Catherine cursed quietly as she hurriedly arranged the documents and stacked them on each other just as they were before she came in.
She bent over and hid under the desk, hands and feet now trembling. What if she got caught in the act? How was she going to explain this. Williams would definitely hate her more. His harsh treatment would turn for worse. She silently prayed. Hoping it wouldn't come to that.
She could see the rays of the torchlight flash against the glass doors moving from left to right. After a few minutes, whoever that was had gone. She assumed it was the janitor.
She stood up and hurried to to his drawers, ransacking it quickly in search of that particular document.
Finally, there it was, the document she had been searching for. She opened the folder carefully and read right through it. Her eyes grew wide and her jaws dropped as she mapped the words with her fingers.
Her hands subconsciously fell over her mouth, seeing William's plans for her father's company. So this is what he has planned for her parents company. This is the reason he agreed to marry her in the first place! No, no, she was not going to allow this to happen to her parents. They must find out about this.
Immediately, she opened her camera app and took pictures of the document. Afterwards, she hurried, arranging everything back to the way it was and stormed out of the company in shock.
Getting into her car, it was time to visit her parents. She will reveal everything to them and warn them against William.
