Chapitre 2: Chapter 2

Ikkaku had heard about Gin's "paranoia" (from Yumichika), so he looked at Gin with a regretful expression.

Ikkaku always saw Gin as a strong rival, and Gin's skills were indeed exceptional, but his personality was... problematic.

"I'll say it again! I don't have paranoia; it's a normal risk avoidance strategy! You, a narcissist, and a battle maniac, understand nothing.

Do you know how many nameless Shinigami die in Seireitei each year? Why do so many graduates of Shin'o Academy join the Gotei 13 every year, yet the Gotei 13 never seems to be fully staffed?

You two are well-known side characters, but I'm just a background character. If I'm not careful, how can I survive in this cruel world!"

Seeing the regretful expressions on Ikkaku and Yumichika's faces, Gin naturally argued back.

However, Ikkaku and Yumichika didn't believe him; they just patted his shoulder reassuringly, wearing "we understand" expressions.

"Anyway, my goal is clear. From the beginning, I've been prepared to join Squad Eleven, a combat squad. What about you, Yumichika?"

With a slightly fierce look, Ikkaku glanced around the various recruitment points. He smiled contentedly at the muscular men gathered at the Squad Eleven recruitment point.

"Of course, I'm joining Squad Eleven too. If I could, I'd join Squad Six, as it suits my temperament more. But Squad Six is a noble squad, and it's hard for someone from Rukongai to join without connections.

Excluding Squad Six, Squad Eleven, which gets frequent appearances, is naturally my first choice. While I don't love fighting as much as you do, I do love being seen. Letting other Shinigami see my beauty is also quite a good thing."

As Yumichika spoke, he took out a mirror and a bottle of hair gel, intending to style his hair to increase his chances of getting accepted.

Seeing Yumichika pull out the hair gel, Gin discreetly stepped back. He was allergic to hair gel, especially knowing that a certain big boss in this world also liked using it.

"Gin, has my beauty reached a level where you have to avoid me?"

All of us are handsome... at least Yumichika thought no one could match his beauty. Noticing Gin's small movement, Yumichika felt slightly dissatisfied.

Narcissists don't care about others' feelings. Yumichika was always very self-centered, but Gin's small action bothered him as one of his few friends.

"No, I think he just dislikes your hair gel. I hate it too!"

Using hair gel in front of a bald man, was this mocking Ikkaku or flaunting his own hair? Every bald man is obsessed with their follicles and won't tolerate such mockery! "This hair gel is currently a bestseller in Seireitei. It's said to be effective even for those without hair."

Ikkaku: "Really! Let me try some!"

After parting ways with the comedic duo of Ikkaku and Yumichika, Gin began looking for a squad to join.

The Gotei 13 was originally an assassination organization that, for various reasons, became the security force known today. Each squad has its own responsibilities.

Squad One, also known as the "First Division," is the head of the Gotei 13, and only experienced Shinigami can join. A rookie like Gin has no chance.

Squad Two is the Stealth Force, responsible for capturing, assassinations, and overseeing the "Nest of Maggots." It's a special and powerful squad within the Gotei 13.

Squad Three is the Support Squad, Squad Four is the Medical Squad, and Squad Five is the Rescue Squad. These three squads are known as the Rear Guard and are good places for retirement.

Squad Six is the Noble Squad, established by Yamamoto to attract noble sponsorship.

Squad Seven is the Internal Affairs Squad, Squad Eight is the Intelligence Squad, Squad Nine is the Prison Squad, and Squad Ten is the Patrol Squad.

Squad Eleven is the Combat Squad, Squad Twelve is the Research and Development Institute, and finally, Squad Thirteen is the Purification Squad.

Except for Squads One and Six, Shin'o Academy students can aim to join the other squads.

Judging by the queues at the recruitment points, the popularity of each squad is evident.

Squad Eleven, the Combat Squad, although historically having the highest death rate, has seen a decline in fatalities since a monster captain named Zaraki Kenpachi took over.

The reason is simple: this new captain, Kenpachi, is exceptionally powerful and always leads from the front, boosting the morale of the Squad Eleven members and reducing their casualties.

Despite its dangerous nature, Squad Eleven offers the best benefits. Previously, its high death rate still attracted many graduates, and now even more so.

Squad Two's Stealth Force and Squad Twelve's Research and Development Institute have specific requirements for recruits. Squad Two needs Shinigami proficient in "Shunpo," while Squad Twelve requires intelligent students with excellent academic records.

Due to his low profile, Gin has no chance with these squads, but he doesn't mind since he already decided which squads to aim for.

Squads Four and Thirteen are his first choices. If not, then Squads Seven, Eight, or Ten. If those don't work out, he'll showcase some Shunpo skills or advanced spiritual theories to join Squad Two's Stealth Force or the Research and Development Institute.

In short, Gin didn't even consider the other squads.

As a transmigrator, Gin knows that Squads Three and Five, although seemingly like good retirement squads, will soon become the targets of a hair gel-obsessed big boss.

The reason for preferring Squads Four and Thirteen is simple: many predecessors who transmigrated to the Shinigami world joined Squad Four, where they could both observe and show off.

Throughout the Soul Society, only Rangiku could rival Captain Unohana in 'magnanimity'.

However, the captain of Squad Ten, Shiba Isshin, will soon go to the human world to become a mediocre doctor, leaving Squad Ten weak.

Gin thinks joining Squad Four is more stable.
