Ronald had said those words based on pure speculations alone, however Lucian's pale face seemed to have confirmed his suspicions. 

He had been at the engagement party as well, the only difference between him and Edmund was the fact that he hadn't been irrational. Edmund had let his feelings get the better of him and had gotten himself in trouble. While Ronald had remained chill, well blended with the crowd, and had found his way out the very moment things seemed like they had gotten normal. 

He had seen everything that happened that night, how Lucian's servant boy stared at him throughout the night, he had seen the both of them enter the grand hall together. And while he didn't think much of it at first, his perception had completely changed when the boy threw his life on the balance to save the prince. Most servants wouldn't do that, not even the guards had the balls to move at that point in time. However, that servant boy had done so.
