Chapitre 13: The dragon has stepped on Earth (2)

Blood dripped off Asahi's palm, and each drop landed on his black shirt. Kenji's eyebrows furrowed. His smile now changed to a frown as he staggered back and stood right in front of the door while Asahi continued to clutch the knife.

The pain gave Asahi the feeling of being alive as he slowly straightened his back and sat upright.

The room was silent, and only Kenji's heaving breath could be heard aloud.

"You... You.. You bastard!" Kenji cursed under his breath, unpleased by the outcome. Wrinkles formed around his forehead as he couldn't believe how Asahi had woken up so soon. The Rat Poison of the Rat Yokai was his signature move every time members of Omyouji got selected.

It took everyone at least a day to recover, and yet, here this bastard had woken up in less than an hour!

"Did Mr. Kobayashi know how you tried to kill me?" Asahi had a low tone while he continued to gaze at the blade in his hand. He had released his palm and used his thumb to glide through its edge.

"It is none of your business, you bas-"

Subtle footsteps could be heard, and before Kenji could conclude his words, the door pushed open and slammed Kenji's behind. For the first time, Asahi had seen the tensed face of Mr. Kobayashi.

His breath panted and his eyes gazed left to right, while his hand clutched to the door handle.

"You... Come to the..."

"There is no need to be so formal, Kobayashi. I am here just to inspect a few things."

It was the familiar voice Asahi had heard a while ago. Asahi darted his eyes towards the door. He could see the pale expression on Mr. Kobayashi's face. From behind the old man came a boy of the same age as Asahi.

Just like in the dream, he had red eyes but no horns. The moment their eyes locked, the man had a smirk on his face. Asahi felt in a daze. Had he not broken out of that subconscious dream?

In the very next second, the man appeared before him and raised his hand, and just as he was about to punch, Asahi closed his eyes. He knew his limits and knew that he didn't have enough power to stop that power.

But somehow, he felt nothing. Huh? He opened his eyes slowly, and contrary to his expectations, he was greeted by his chest while his hand went past his shoulder.

"What do you think you were doing, eh? Little Kenji?" The man spoke.

Asahi slightly turned his head around and saw the firm grime of the man around Kenji's hand, which had a dagger. It seemed that Kenji was about to stab Asahi when he let his guard down.

He slowly started to twist his palm three hundred and sixty degrees. With every second, everyone in the room sharply inhaled their breaths as they could hear the snapping of Kenji's bones.

Kenji had tears brimming in his eyes. But still, the man continued to turn his hands until, at the very end, he pulled off the broken arm from his body. It was a bloody mess.

"AHHHHHH"

Kenji let out a spine-chilling cry while the man threw the arm on the floor and simply walked towards Mr. Kobayashi and whispered "Fix him" in his ears.

"Oh, and Ito? What is your name again? Follow me, unless you want to be in the same state as Kenji."

Asahi had his lips sealed. There was no way he could ever dismay the commands of the godlike figure, so he got off his bed. The room was crowded by the association heads. They gave him a nasty glare as he walked past them.

As he walked away, Mr. Kobayashi immediately headed towards Kenji and started applying the healing talisman, only for it to not work.

"How did you know to break the spell?" The man's voice echoed in the empty hallway. Asahi stopped his steps and simply gazed at the man.

"Who are you?"

"Wha, so they haven't told you yet? Ahahahha" The man's face changed from a frown to laughter as if he were watching a clown, and it irked Asahi.

"Well, I am the dragon Yoaki, or Tastu, as they call me. So tell me, boy." The man raised his eyebrows with a mused face.

"I shall just call you Ryuu then," Asahi blatantly denied.

"Why so?"

"Ryuu is cooler." Once again, the man let out another hardy laugh.

"I see. So?" The atmosphere had gotten denser in an instant.

"It was because of its pristineness. Anything too clean or too pure couldn't exist, but despite my breaking bones and pain, the room was simply not affected. It was just my attempt to use my corrosive blood to break free." Asahi explained, and Ryuu had a musing smile plastered on his face and was satisfied by his answer.

"Corrosive blood, eh? That mouse would love to hear that," Ryuu smirked.

"Don't you think it's time to finish your promise now?" Asahi spoke out while his face remained unfazed by the presence of a deity-like figure. The dragon Yokai was a highly praised and loved deity with immense powers.

"Eh? Did you happen to win against me by asking for the reward?"

"Wasn't breaking free from your control my win?" Asahi's words were like a nail, which hit Ryuu right where it meant. He had an unpleasant expression on his face. His brows knitted, and his eyes narrowed towards Asahi.

After thinking about it for some time, Ryuu parted his lips. "Sure then, but before that, hand me over the antidote."

"No"
