Chapter 44: Recalibration
Zed's eyes snapped open, his vision blurry and unfocused. As the world slowly came into focus, Jadyn's face hovered above him, her features etched with terror. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
He tried to move, to speak, but his body refused to respond. Panic clawed at his chest as he realized he couldn't feel the familiar presence of the Dimensional Simulator in his mind. The constant hum of data and calculations that had become his constant companion was eerily silent.
'What have I done?' The thought echoed in the vast emptiness of his mind. The cost of his desperate pursuit of Dimensional Points suddenly seemed far too high. As darkness crept in at the edges of his vision, Zed's last coherent thought was of the challenges that lay ahead—challenges he might now have to face without the aid of the Dimensional Simulator.
