Chapitre 17: Chapter 16: Last Day of School

[Time skip]

"Emma, we need to talk," you said, trying to keep your voice steady.

Emma looked up, her eyes filled with a mix of hurt and stubbornness. "About what?"

"You need to understand," you began, sitting down beside her, "this is something I believe I can do better than anyone. It's not just a career choice for me; it's my passion."

Emma crossed her arms, her gaze fixed on the floor. "But why does it have to be this way? You're good at studies. You could go to a normal college, graduate with a degree, and get a steady job. Why risk everything on this?"

"But this is something I'm really passionate about," you said, trying to convey the depth of your feelings. "It's not just about getting a job. It's about following my dreams and doing something that truly matters to me."

"But what if something happens to you?" Emma's voice wavered, and you could see the fear in her eyes. "What if you get hurt or worse? I don't want to lose you."

"Don't worry," you said, reaching out to gently touch her hand. "I know it's risky, but I'll be careful. I'll take all the necessary precautions to stay safe. And I promise, I'll come back to you every time."

Emma's eyes filled with tears, and she looked away, struggling with her emotions. "You're asking me to just accept this? To let you go knowing how dangerous it is?"

"I know it's hard," you said, your voice filled with sincerity. "But I need you to understand how important this is to me. I need your support, not just for me but for myself and my future."

Emma wiped her tears and took a deep breath. "Okay," she said quietly, her voice still tinged with worry. "But you have to promise me that you'll be careful. That you'll come back safe and keep me updated."

"I will," you assured her, pulling her into a gentle hug. "I'll make sure to keep you safe in my thoughts every step of the way."

[Later That Week at School]

"How is your training going in the training hall? Did you make any progress?" I asked.

"Yes, we did," kyle replied. "We learned basic hand-to-hand combat and firearm techniques."

"But battle focus is still far from our reach," they added, with frustration.

"Don't worry, you'll eventually get it," I reassured them.

"In which area number are you, Alex?"

"I'm in area 6969. What about you two?"

"We're both in 7014."

"Why don't you come to my area? We can meet there."

"We will, after we complete the training and are ready for the first floor."

[Another Week Later]

Now that I had completely enhanced myself my stats looked something like this:

[Stats]

Name: Alex

Health: 100%

Stamina: 100%

Fatigue: 0%

HP: 120

Attack: 14

Agility: 14

Defense: 14

Endurance: 14

Focus: 13

Additional Information:

Skills:

Basic Weapon Mastery [Proficiency 93%]

Basic Hand-to-Hand Combat [Proficiency 87%]

Basic Battle Focus [Proficiency 98%]

Enhancements: [None]

Supernatural Abilities: [None]

Total Coins: 200

I had 200 tower coins left. It would be inefficient to spend them now since increasing 10 stats would cost 1000 tower coins, and renting the pod would cost 100.

With the final exam approaching, Joe and Kyle had nearly completed their training. They just needed to improve their proficiency and were planning to challenge the tower after the exam, which would last for about two weeks.

[On the Day of the Exam]

As the final exams approached, the next two weeks were filled with a whirlwind of test prep and late-night study sessions. Even though I had already graduated high school five years ahead of this world, I somehow felt pretty good about the exams while my peers were visibly stressed. As the exams concluded, my friends and I met outside the exam halls.

"How was the exam?" I asked, curiosity in my voice.

"I don't know if I'm going to pass," Kyle admitted, his worry apparent. "The rest went okay, but math really gave me a hard time."

"If there's a god out there, please let me make it through math," Kyle added, his tone filled with desperation.

"What about you, Joe?" I asked, turning to my other friend.

"I think I did pretty good," Joe replied, with a confident smile on his face.

"Of course you did, you lucky bastards. You two have always been good at this stuff," kyle said, frustated shaking my head.

"Don't worry, Kyle. You'll make it," I said, giving him a reassuring pat on the back.

"Really think so, Alex?" Kyle asked, with hope and uncertainty in his voice.

"Ah, on second thought, maybe not. You do kind of suck at math," I joked, my smirk showing I was just messing around.

Kyle shot me a hurtful glare. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Alex. I really needed that."

Joe chuckled beside us. "Come on, Kyle. Alex is just messing with you. You've got this."

We made our way out of the exam hall and into the courtyard, where students were gathered, discussing their tests and catching up with friends. The atmosphere was a mix of relief and tension. Some were reveling in the fact that the exams were finally over, while others were tense, unsure of how they had performed.

"Alright, enough of this," I said, clapping Kyle on the back with a grin. "Let's focus on what comes next. The tower challenge is just around the corner."

"Come to the tower tonight at 9 PM. I'll tell you the strategy for the First Floor of the Tower of Trials" I added, my tone serious but encouraging.

"Okay, let's meet at the tower at 9. What was your area number again, Alex?" Kyle asked.

"It's 6969. Remember it. Meet me at the center of the lobby, near the teleporter."

After the conversation, we left the school and went our separate ways home.

Once I reached home, I headed straight to my room, got freshened up, and changed into a new set of clothes.

"Now that I've fully increased my stats, I should research more about the second floor. I plan to challenge it before the university entrance exams."
