„Seems like you will have to die even more now, evil heretic!"
Intent was something hard to describe. It basically meant achieving such a high synchronization with a part of the world that you could imbue it into your attacks in the form of intent.
In the case of the goblin king, he had a very high understanding of fire and probably used it very often. This led to him eventually understanding its intent and strengthening his attack with its help.
If you imbue your attacks with intent you can achieve different effects. In the case of fire intent, your attacks will burn with a higher intensity and temperature, making them more destructive.
You can theoretically begin to understand intent as soon as you step into the Sea Expansion realm, but that's usually only possible for peak or unique species like Angels.
Especially dumb ones like goblins can usually never understand intent, since they are just too dumb and untalented.
This goblin king probably found a rare treasure that helped him understand it. But it didn't matter how he did it. Only the fact that he was able to use it is important. And this made him a dangerous opponent, even for the Angel of Death.
„Intent you say?" Karok seemed to be intrigued by the new knowledge revealed to him. After all he was probably the first goblin to achieve it since he was born. „I've never heard of it! But it doesn't matter. I can still question you when I've beaten you to the brink of death."
Without saying anything else, the two combatants reengaged. This time with even more intensity.
Karok condensed 5 fireballs around himself in a circle. Each of them had a diameter of 50cm and emitted an enormous amount of energy.
The Angel of Death used his ability to coat his sword with Aura of decay again. This time the blade seemed to be even darker and just looking at it, you would feel like the grim-reaper stood before you.
As the Angel neared the goblin king, he sent the five Fireballs towards him. All of them came from different angles, making them impossible to dodge without retreating. But the Angel continued ahead. Due to his insanely high speed, he could choose a way where he would only have to confront two fireballs head-on.
Before the first one could even hit him, he slashed out with his sword, producing a slash made from the same energy as his blade's coating.
The slash made from energy traveled in front of the Angel with an even higher speed and hit the first fireball straight in the center. The clash between the two porduced an immense explosion as both of them continued to lose a part of their energy and a cloud of smoke formed around them.
The cloud dissipated after just a second and revealed a tiny black light, the size of a toothpick. Though the blade made from Death energy had won the fight, it didn't have any more power left over.
The Angel of Death, seeing the result, was somewhat concerned. Though it seemed like he was slightly stronger, the reality was that it would take very long for him to win the fight. In addition his opponent also had a higher energy pool because of his higher realm. This meant that he would have to give his all.
As he neared the next fireball, he unfurled his wings, which he hadn't done until now, to use their ability and explosively increase his speed. They would also double his body strength.
Fireball met sword but this time the explosion was way smaller than before. Because of the increased power and speed behind the attack, the blade sliced the fireball in two, effectively reducing its power to 0.
Seeing this, the goblin king furrowed his brows slightly, but continued to materialize another 10 fireballs. But just as he was about to send them towards his opponent again he stopped. The Angel of death had completely vanished.
Becoming wary, he surrounded himself with the fireballs, leaving no openings. His fighting instincts once again showed, since this was the only move that ended up with him not dying. Just a millisecond later the Angel of Death sliced through the fireballs with a speed that was too fast for even the goblin king to follow.
Flying with several times the speed of sound, the Angel of Death had used his wings ability to accelerate to the maximum speed his body was able to withstand. Usually this was not meant for combat, since he could only move in a straight line and had no control, but he had pulled it off.
Leaving the goblin king with almost no time to react, he aimed right for his head. In the last moment thought Karok managed to block the fatal attack with his arm, sacrificing it in the process.
Karok was on the brink of exploding with anger. Never had he been wounded so badly in a fight that he lost his one of his limbs permanently. Though an arm could be regrown, it would need a precious herb and the humiliation of the wound would stay.
Channeling all of his Anger into the fight, Karok started infusing the fireballs that still surrounded them with even more spiritual energy, draining almost half of his energy sea in the process.
He didn't care that there were still 20 similar foes on the surrounding battlefield. Anger had taken over his mind and the only thing that mattered was to kill this enemy, even if it meant gaining wounds in the process.
Though he himself would also be hurt by this attack, his understanding of fire intent increased his resistance to fire attacks which would ensure he didn't die.
The Angel of Death didn't show the reaction that Karok wished for though. He was still calm and collected, an aura of Death energy forming around him as a shield.
„Evil heretic, you will die today no matter what. Even if I die, I will enter the divine kingdom of my lord, but you will forever suffer in hell." For Angels the greatest honor possible was to die on the battlefield in the service of their Lord. Dying of old age was even seen as shameful, if they couldn't be of use to their creator in their last moments.
As the energy grew ever more intense, most other Angels and what was left of the strongest goblins, turned their attention towards the biggest battle.
At the moment only half of the Sea Expansiok Realm goblins were left alive, but all of them had already suffered severe wounds. None of them could compare to Karok in fighting prowess so they were always on the losing side in a fight against an Angel.
