Chapitre 6: Military

Damon and Cassie got out of the truck while doing a quick look around the area to make sure no one had came by.

"Looks clear," Damon said before pulling out a key from his duffle bag and walking to the cabin door and opening it allowing themselves inside.

The inside of the cabin was nice and cozy with a couple of leather reclining chairs and a nice couch with the fireplace in the living room area while a small kitchen could be seen connected to it.

"Follow me." Damon led Cassie to a door that had stairs going down to an underground bunker.

Damon scanned his eye and the metal door swung open allowing them to walk downstairs.

"Woah!" Cassie looked around the underground lit bunker that was a lot larger then you would think it was.

A few metal desks could be seen with a bunch of computers showing screens of the surrounding forest and all sides of the cabin along with crates of supplies and tables full of guns and ammo lying around.

Large gasoline tanks could be seen in one area of the bunker next to a workshop full of scattered parts and tools.

Even a large see-through tent could be seen with a whole bunch of surgery equipment could be seen in one corner of the room.

Damon walked over to the desk with the computers and looked at one monitor that had red dots next to a few lines of words.

[Early noise alarm -Offline]

[Minefield - Offline]

[Automatic Turret - Offline]

[Interior shotgun traps - Offline]

Damon flipped the switch for the early noise alarm but kept the others offline for now since he wanted to save the resources for when they were needed.

Damon then looked over at a few maps that were hanging up on a wall and saw where every single trap, camera, turret, mine along with everything else on the property.

He then saw a larger map that had x marks all over the country with different wording under them.

"What's that?" Cassie asked while looking at the Xs that were spread out all over the country in massive amounts.

"Supply spots. Bunkers, warehouses, bags in the dirt, trucks in garages, anything you can think of really.

Over time my uncle amassed massive amounts of illegal cash along with connections to some of the richest arms dealers in the world.

I guess you could say paranoia runs in the family because he used all of the illegal cash to put all kinds of resources throughout the country in case he ever needed it along with hundreds of different bug-out bags so he could disappear."

"Wow, and I thought you were bad." Cassie shook her head in wonder

Damon just chuckled.

"With this, the amount of resources we could potentially collect just skyrocketed. Of course, some of these spots will probably either be found or just completely erased from the map but not all of them."

"Right now I'm guessing the military is already moving throughout the city and trying to put up defensive zones in some areas.

This is our chance to horde as many resources as we can while others are panicking and figuring out the situation." Damon said

"Don't we have enough resources for ourselves already?" Cassie asked while looking at the thousands of Xs on the map.

"In the future manpower will be key. To make someone submit you need power and resources. All the resources we get now will mean less work for us down the road." Damon said making Cassie nod with understanding.

Two people were ideal right now to survive but in time to have more people would be important to begin making your own materials along with farming food and clearing large amounts of infected.

"We start by going to the edge of the city and bringing back resources but first learn all of the traps on the property and add your face to the turret recognition system so you don't get shot," Damon said to Cassie.

"Okay. What happens if the electricity grid turns off though?" Cassie asked with worry as the property used quite a bit of electricity.

"It's on its own solar power grid along with multiple generators on the property and enough oil to last years. We should be good." Damon said before going out to his truck and transferring all the supplies to the cabin.

Edge of the city, Neighborhood safe zone

One group of military stormed a small neighborhood in the city and quickly set up surrounding walls and gates while also making sure the inside was clear from infected while keeping the civilian's calm.

The civilians were not allowed to leave and no one could enter while the military collected all of the resources before making a plan to try and sweep the surrounding areas of the city that had begun to get overrun.

They were getting reports from other teams, some who failed to set up a safe zone and some who managed to set up one successfully.

"We will attempt to push forward toward this ER building here." The leading commander Johnson of the neighborhood safe zone, pointed toward a road on a map outside of the neighborhood that led to an ER building next to a few other shopping areas.

"If we can secure this road and get this building locked down we can set up a forward operation from there along with collecting all of the medical supplies from the ER."

"Jackson and Levi will be overwatch, looking over the entire road while the rest will be on the ground with me." Commander Johnson said before everyone got geared and ready to move out.

Commander Johnson looked over his squads who were getting geared and loading the Humvees with a small frown.

Most of their veteran military were still stuck in foreign countries that had already stopped communications after being overrun leaving them with mostly fresh recruits and young soldiers who didn't have any actual combat time.

And now they were going up against an enemy even he knew hardly anything about. He would just have to hope these soldiers could stay calm under pressure.

Over in another area Jackson was packing his bag and getting ready for the operation when a beautiful older lady with black hair and a blue dress came over to him.

"You, okay? You need something?" Jackson said while the older white women looked at him.

"My husband has cancer. I was hoping you could bring me back some medicine from the ER." The older woman fell to her knees and started crying.

Jackson who didn't see a problem with stealing a little medicine for himself, looked around before standing and walking to the older woman.

"Sure I can," Jackson said calmly walking closer to the woman.

"Thank you. Thank you so much." The woman cried and put her hands together in happiness.

"I'm just going to need a small favor from you and the medicine is yours," Jackson said while putting a thumb on the woman's lips and making his thumb enter her mouth.

The woman's eyes went wide but she knew that when she came here it might have come to this but she couldn't let her husband die and they were running out of medicine.

She turned off her mind and forced herself to not throw up while unzipping the young man's pants before he moved her head to his crotch.

"Ohh! Yeah that's good."

The sound of wet noises and crying traveled out into the night's air and not before long it would be time for them to make their first move out into the city.

Only they had no idea the hell hole they would be walking into.
