Chapitre 43: Legacy

Matteo lay unconscious as the guy spoke into his ears.

"You Mediterraneans must be very strong. I can't believe you survived that aerosol poison for three days straight. Well, you can die now."

Just as the cold tip of the needle touched Matteo's skin, he suddenly held up the hand of the guy, holding it tight until he screamed in pain.

The nurse ran towards Matteo's bed and shifted the curtains, revealing the scene that alarmed the remaining patients.

"He was trying to poison me," Matteo said, his voice hoarse.

He had heard mildly in his coma when the doctor narrated his diagnosis to a judge that dropped by in the morning. He stayed still, knowing whoever did it would come to check if his or her devious plan had worked.

Soon, the police came and took the guy away. They saw a phone in his pocket, and it happened to be Matteo's phone.

Matteo quickly dialed his sister's contact in a group call, knowing they must have been agitated.
