Chapitre 2: CHAPTER 1 - THE VOICE

I turned the shower on and sat beneath it, only to get lost in thought about the voice I had been hearing. I felt myself slowly losing consciousness. I somehow pulled myself together, took a bath, and got out of the shower, only to hear my parents shouting at me again.

After lecturing me for about an hour, with me just sitting around listening to them with my face down and no expression but a depressed one, my father finally stood up and said, "You don't belong here.

Get out of the house by tomorrow. I don't want to see your face," and left. Inside, I knew it was going to happen one day, so I wasn't surprised and still had no expression on my face.

My mother made an angry face and left behind my father, utterly disappointed in me. I stood up and went to my room, took up my mobile phone, and started scrolling through social media. Scrolled for a while and feeling tired, I went straight to bed to lie down and relax, only to fall back asleep.

Again, I entered the same place, though this time I spawned in the same place where I was sitting last time. It was like a save point in a game. What is going on with my life? Even my dreams are getting weirder day by day.

I looked down at the river; its crystal clear water reflected my face. It was as clear as a mirror. To be honest, a mirror wouldn't provide such a clear reflection. Suddenly, my reflection fuzzed up. It was some kind of blurry reflection now, though the water was still the same. The reflection was blurry, and then the voice came back.

"Did you miss me, pretty boy?"

"Ah, bet! After you left me hanging with my question, I couldn't stop thinking about you—not that I actually wanted to think about you."

"Yeah, yeah, I know you don't want to think about me. Don't worry about it. Let's have a bigger chat this time. We have more time now."

"Let me be straight to the point, but first, why don't you show yourself to me?"

"You are already looking at me right now," the voice said.

"Looking at you?" I moved my head everywhere to see if there was someone else around. The only thing I could see was natural scenery, birds, and some strange kind of animals, some like I had never seen before.

"I don't see you anywhere. Are you by any chance grass, water, bird, animal, or a tree?"

"Well, obviously not. I am a human. I mean, I was. Right now, I am just a consciousness, somewhat like a soul. I am the reflection you are seeing right now in the river."

"Bullshit. Though the reflection is somewhat blurry, it's clearly me. How would I not even recognize my own face?"

"I look exactly the same as you because I am literally you."

"Now just stop joking around. I am not interested in these build-up stories of yours."

"What would it take for you to believe me? Because until you believe me, you will truly never be complete."

"What do you mean I will never be complete? Am I like an incomplete being? Are you like a god who will make me complete after I believe you?"

"Well, yeah, I am a god kinda for the people of your world and universe."

"Well bro, did someone tell you that you boast a lot? First, you said you were me, now you are saying you are a god. Does that mean I am a god too? And if I am a god, how am I incomplete?"

"Well, it's not the time for me to tell you everything, but believe me when I say I created this universe that you live in."

"Well, and you know what? I created you. Remember that you are nothing but a sound that I created within myself because I was feeling alone and to keep me company, I needed someone by my side."

"No doubt you could do that, but I am not that. I am a reality, the reality that you people think is a mere possibility. You all live in the illusion that your lives have meaning or something."

"Well, I don't know about others, but definitely, I don't think my life has any meaning. Everything I try or do, I fail miserably."

"Well, I cannot access your memory yet, so I don't know what you have experienced in the past, but you have started gaining access to my memories slowly. As your brain gets used to the high load of information, you might actually be able to see all my memories and maybe then you will believe me."

"I don't understand a word you say, but anyway, I know you are boasting. It's been so long since I have been sitting here, I think I should go and visit the city. It seemed so advanced and developed to me."

"Well, you can try going, but you won't be able to leave this forest region. This is how far you have gained my memories, so it won't be possible for you to explore any further."

"Keep your bullshit to yourself. I am going. You do whatever you like, just don't follow me."

"Fine, Mr. Anubhav the Great. Go on. Don't come back to me crying. Also, a warning: if you bang your head on the invisible wall, you might get out of this dream."

"Yeah, yeah, Mr. So-called God, I will go."

I started walking along the pathway and reached the end of the forest. Ahead of me was a very well-laid-out road. It wasn't like roads I have seen on Earth. It was shiny, smooth, and still had a good grip. I wasn't slipping off it.It was sparkling in silver. I headed towards the sign board on top It was in some weird language, but I found that, surprisingly enough the words had formed themselves into understandable text when it passed through my mind. Ethorea was printed across the top of this new one. What an odd name for such stunning place - I thought. I moved forward, and boom! I hit something and came back to reality, only to find myself in a construction site

My head was throbbing with pain, and I felt a bit disoriented. I looked around and saw the construction workers staring at me in confusion. One of the construction worker came to me and asked , "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just... had a rough night," I mumbled, trying to make sense of my surroundings.

I quickly got up and dusted myself off. The workers were still giving me a strange mysterious look, but I didn't care. I needed to get out of this place and figure out what was happening to me. As I walked away from the site, the voice echoed in my head again.

"That was quite a fall. I warned you but you didn't listen," it said, almost mockingly.

"Shut up," I whispered to myself. "I thought my appearance at the construction site was somewhat connected to Ethorea, I need to get back to that place, and get answers."
