EMILY'S STANDPOINT
Each time Alexander's door opens, I flinch in fear, not knowing what to expect.
He could kill me for all I care when I wasn't watching.
After puking on him he went into a mini shock and fainted. I almost fainted alongside with him out of fear because I had no idea what to do.
I didn't know if he fainted, if he was dead or if he was just being dramatic.
Who the hell faints because someone pukes on them?
I glared at his door but immediately looked away the moment the door was pushed open. I pretended to type while someone walked up to me.
My body tensed and my heart kept beating frantically.
"Miss Davis," I paused, hearing the voice of Collins, his PA.
"Collins," I swirled my chair around, facing him. I almost thought it was Alexander but who was I kidding. He'll probably not give me privilege of handing me my sack letter himself.
He'll send Collins, his obedience larky to do it instead.
"Is he ok?" I asked, feigning worry but the real question I was itching to ask was my employment status.
"He is out of danger at the moment but still haven't recovered from his shock," Collins replied, adjusting his glasses.
I frowned, glancing at his door. I still didn't under why he would go into shock like that when it's not like I stabbed him or something.
"Mr. Alexander has a skin problem and tends to react when someone touches him or if something disgusting comes in contact with his skin."
"He has dermatographia?" I gasped in disbelief, finding it hard to believe.
"I didn't know you know about the name but that's what it is," Collins replied.
"It can't be," I muttered under my breath.
"Excuse me?" He said, not hearing what I said but I ignored him.
How could it that be? I could swear that I made contact with him the first time we met in that restaurant and he didn't seem to have any skin allergy when touched him. He only looked shocked.
Could that have been the reason that he was surprised?
"Is he alright?" I asked, sincerely worried this time around. I still didn't like him one bit but having dermatographia seems like a big deal. I wonder how much trouble he had to go through to avoid contact with anyone.
"He is out of danger at the moment, he just needs to recover from the shock."
"How long will that take?" I asked.
"It depends on how well his needs are catered to by the person who caused his predicament."
"Wait, what?" I gawked at him bug eyed.
"What do you mean by it depends on how well his needs are catered to by the person who caused his predicament? You're not referring to me, are you?"
"I'm afraid I'm referring to you Miss Davis," he replied without blinking an eye. I went silent for a while before breaking into a laugh taking him by surprise.
"Are you ok, Miss Davis?" He watched me confused while I continued laughing, tears seeping from my eyes in the process.
"No Collins, I'm not ok," I wiped the tears off my cheeks.
"What's wrong?"
"I think I'm going to commit murder for real Collins. My hands are itching me to grab a knife, match into the CEO's office and finish what I already started so I can finally be free," I blurted out.
"Miss Davis!" Collins gasped in horror, taking a step back.
"I can't possibly be ok with those thoughts running through my head, can I?" I stopped laughing and dragged my nails on the table, making a screeching sound.
"Do you want me to get a doctor?"
I sighed, relaxing back on my chair.
"I don't need a doctor. I just need a break from anything that has to do with Alexander. Just one day of working with him and I feel like I'm losing my mind already. Did all his other past secretaries go through the same thing I'm going through now?" Collins giggled, making me smile.
He looked cute when he isn't being all too serious. I doubt he barely gets to laugh not when he is working with Alexander.
"I believe he likes you better than the others he has fired, Miss Davis."
I frowned, not really intrigued by that. I would prefer if we both hated and stayed out of each other's parts.
"What makes you think so?"
He glanced at Alexander's door before returning his gaze back to me.
"If you were to be someone else, I would be bringing your sack letter to you and dragging you out of this building," he replied, smiling.
A nice way to tell me that I want fired, at least not yet.
Hearing this should make me feel special but it did quite the opposite it made me feel miserable. There's no way Alexander likes me, he is only after making my life miserable.
"I would have loved that instead if the situation was different," I muttered under my breath, my mind going to Mrs. Beatrice.
"I'll be closing now Miss Davis."
"Can you quit calling me Miss Davis and just call me Emily?" I asked, frowning.
"Here are the list of things that Mr Alexander always have to do after closing from work," he said, dropping a file on my table, totally ignoring me.
"What do I need this for?" I frowned, having a bad feeling about it.
"The doctor's prescription are that you take care of him till he is fully recovered from his shock."
"What kind of doctor's prescription is that?"
"What the hell happened to prescribing drugs to him and monitoring him. If he needs special treatment, a nurse could easily be assigned to him."
"Doctor Maurice was informed about the fact you're the only one that can touch Mr. Alexander without him having an allergy which was why he prescribed you as the help Mr. Alexander would need," Collins explained.
Why the hell did I have to be the different one?
If he reacted to my touch like he did with others I won't have to go through the torture of taking care of him and spending more time with him.
"There's no need to worry," he assured me.
"Once Mr. Alexander has been tucked in for bed, you're free to go home," Collins said.
"What is he? A kid?" I furrowed my eyebrows at him and he giggled, not answering.
"Am I allowed to give him sleeping drugs?" I asked and the smile disappeared from his face.
"I'm afraid not, Miss Davis, Mr. Alexander has a very sensitive system and tends to react to things not carefully prescribed."
I snorted, looking away. He was such a spoilt and over pampered brat.
"If you need anything, just call me."
"Yea, whatever," I rolled my eyes, still upset over the fact I had to take care of Mr Alexander.
"Emily," he called and I faced him, not responding.
"Alexander is not as bad as he seems," he smiled and I gawked at him.
"You just called his name casually!"
"Shhhh," he placed a finger on his lips signifying me to be quiet.
"I'll be on my way now Miss Emily. Take good care of yourself," he said, walking out.
I relaxed back on my chair totally stressed out.
So I was stuck with Alexander until whenever he falls asleep. Just when I thought I was done with him for today.
"Giddy up Emily," I sat up, shaking my head.
"You can do this!" I assured myself, going into his office.
I knocked on the door but there was no reply before I remembered that Collins said he went into shock. That means he couldn't possibly hear me knocking.
"Come in," he said, surprising me.
He is in shock but he can still talk? I huffed, going in.
"Ouch, my hand," he whined, grabbing his bandaged arm and I frowned, wondering why his arm was bandaged.
Did he break an arm when the doctor was attending to him.
"Don't just stand there, do something!" He barked and I flinched back in fear.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked, clueless.
"It's your fault I'm in this condition, think of something," he retorted.
"Water?" I asked and he huffed, looking away.
"That could work," he replied.
I stood still, watching him. Not only was his hand bandaged, his head was bandaged as well.
"Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and get me the water!"
"Yes sir." I immediately rushed out going to get him the water.
I thought Collins said he was still in shock?
He has to be perfectly ok to be barking orders at me.
I think I've been scammed…..
