"Where is Jean, Father?" I peer down at my father, Louis, my legs are crossed, and my hands rest on my lap.
"You have no right talking about your uncle like that." My father snaps. He is not minding his behavior these days. "Respect him. He is your elder. I didn't raise you to be like this."
"You didn't raise me at all," I say pointedly. "I basically grew up on my own, so don't try to give yourself credit for what you didn't do. You are just humiliating yourself, Father." My expression doesn't change.
I am sitting at my family's house after what seems like a decade. I have been called here to discuss the matter happening in the company. But I am not here to discuss that shit here. I am here to see Jean. I want to know how he bailed Jessie out of the cell. I planned a long time visit for her there. At least until the trial starts.
