Chapitre 11: Katarina’s POV

I was over four hundred years old, and never in my life had I felt so utterly powerless. I watched as the man I had planned to drain of blood flew up into the sky and disappeared into the night. I scrambled over to Emily and checked on her. The man had effortlessly beaten her witch and drank their blood. Their blood had been laced with enough vervain to kill a vampire and yet the man still drank it as if it was nothing.

Emily was still breathing, the wound on her neck had stopped. The memory of the sensation of the unknown vampire's fangs sinking into her neck brought a shiver down her spine. She felt a warmth in between her legs and cursed her body.

"I nearly died, this isn't the time to be lusting after the vampire that nearly killed me."

Emily stirred and woke up groaning. She immediately sat up and looked around, sighing in relief when she found out they were alive and alone.

"Kathrine are you alright?"

"I will be, Emily. What the hell was that vampire?"

A look of fear crossed Emily's brown eyes and she shuddered.

"Whatever he was, he was powerful Katherine, we can't afford to run into him again."

"Agreed," 'I'm hoping I run into him again.' "He was stronger than me, and I'm nearly five hundred years old."

She helped Emily stand as she pushed her intrusive thoughts aside. They cleaned up as best as they could and headed back to the Salvatore house. Looking over their shoulders in case the vampire planned to finish his job.

The next day after flirting with Damon and Stefan, Emily and I were sitting under an umbrella in the Savlatore's courtyard when Giuseppe announced that a guest would be stopping by to have dinner with them. Giuseppe also mentioned that the guest was a member of their town's founders council.

I couldn't help but to feel excited at the opportunity to meet and possibly compel a member of their council. Benjamin Lockwood was already in my pocket, I was planning to give him the moonstone once Pearl arrived with her daughter. Who would be better at keeping the moonstone safe from Klaus but a family with the werewolf gene.

The brothers were already compelled, I was surprised that the people in town did not know that vervain could stop a vampire from compelling you. The brothers were so hopelessly in love with me that I couldn't help but to feel like they would make excellent minions. I could turn them once the moonstone was safely in Benjamin Lovkwoods hands. I snuck over to Damon's room after telling Emily to cover for me if Giuseppe came around asking for me. The poor fool of a man didn't know I was a vampire, he had invited me into his home with a smile on his face.

After a heated kiss with Damon I made my way over to Stefan's room, I had been feeding him my blood drop by drop every day. I felt a strange connection with him and I couldn't risk him dying to another vampire before I found out why. I shared another passionate moment with the younger Salvatore and then fixed my dress up before heading back to Emily. Playing both of them was laughably easy. A few sweet words here and there, a kiss or a touch ever so often. The two boys would no doubt do anything I tell them to without the compulsion. I sat down next to Emily as she stared at me, an unreadable expression on her face.

"Why do you do that to them Katherine? Why play with them like that?"

I thought about it for a moment. Nothing came to mind, honestly I didn't really understand why I was toying with the brothers myself. Maybe it was to satisfy my own needs, maybe I actually was developing feelings for them. I shrugged, before answering my only friend.

"Honestly I don't know Emily, something pulls me to Stefan. I want to find out what it is, and Damon? Well he's just an extra little prize I'm going to get."

Emily sighs as she looks away, she stands as a carriage approaches the house. I felt it too, this aura of overwhelming power. It was familiar, I held my breath as the door to the carriage was opened and a man stepped out. His back was turned to us but I knew who it was.

The man turned to face us and smiled, I felt myself getting warm. The man winks at me and walks into the house.

Turning to Emily who had gone pale, I asked her.

"You saw that too right? He didn't have a ring last night."

"Yes, how is he out during the day?"

I couldn't answer Emily's question as more questions of my own popped up in my head. A vampire was a member of the founders council, he could walk in the day without a visible daylight ring. He had access to magic and could fly, not only that but he overpowered me and I was one of the oldest vampires currently in this town with the Mikaelsons still in hiding. Giuseppe sent a servant to fetch us for dinner a moment later, we walked slowly in through the doors. A sense of dread bloomed in my unbeating heart.

Dinner started out amicably, the brothers seemed to like the mysterious vampire. He was introduced to us by Giuseppe as Seth Williamson, a wealthy investor and physician that lived across town in a plantation he had bought just a few weeks ago. Shock and surprise worked into my system. Seth was new in town, yet he had managed to work his way into the council and have good relations with the rest of the town. Seth made eye contact with me and I turned away.

"Katherine are you alright?"

"I'm fine Damon, I just need to get some air. I'll be right back."

I ignored the look Stefan and Damon gave me as I made my way out back to the courtyard. I tried to shake the nerves that had built up over the course of the meal.

"Fancy meeting you out here."

A chill went down my spine as I felt Seth walk over to me. I fought every instinct telling me to run as I turned and offered him a strained smile.

"Why, Doctor Williamson. Are you not enjoying dinner?"

Seth steps into my space and traces a finger across my jaw. Heat flared in my core as I shuddered at his touch.

"But Katarina," I felt goosebumps on my skin as he said my name. "I'd rather be enjoying you."

He whispered the last part of his sentence and I nearly jumped on him there.

"Why are you here?" I forced out the words, they were barely a whisper.

"Why? To enjoy dinner with the Salvatores of course."

He winked at me and I knew if I was still human I would have blushed.

"But if you'd rather have a more intimate repeat of last night, I wouldn't mind."

'Curse you! Curse you! Stupid dangerous vampire! Why do I have to be attracted to the ones that want to kill me?'

Seth smiles as he leans in forward, his lips brush against mine and I close my eyes expecting him to close the gap and kiss me. I felt a breeze and I opened my eyes, he was waving at me from his carriage that had just arrived.

"God damn that man, I hate you Seth Williamson!"

I could have sworn I heard him laughing as his carriage pulled away.
