Chapitre 6: Chapter 6 : Mr. 3??

Buggy raced down to the monitoring room on the second basement floor with unbridled speed!

On his way, he encountered a bizarre assortment of creatures: a diminutive, adorable hippopotamus, a scythe mantis dressed in clothes, a scorpion as large as a basin, and a peculiar lion with a human face.

However, Buggy's lightning-fast pace meant that most of these creatures barely registered his presence before he was gone, leaving them bewildered.

Preoccupied with his mission, Buggy barely took note of the strange animals and barreled straight toward the monitoring room!

Buggy had no intention of freeing the prisoners confined in the second, third, and fourth layers of hell below.

The second basement floor, known as Wild Beast Hell, housed prisoners terrorized by the ferocious beasts outside their cells. They dared not venture out, waiting for a glimmer of hope to inspire them.

The third basement floor, or Starvation Hell, was plagued by extreme heat radiating from the Blazing Hell of the fourth floor below.

Combined with the chronic lack of water and food, the prisoners on this floor were too weak to even move, let alone mount any resistance.

The fourth basement floor, Blazing Hell, was under the watchful eye of Magellan himself. As long as Magellan remained, this floor would stay untroubled by any uprisings.

Buggy's sole focus was on the prisoners held on the fifth and sixth floors of the basement!

There might be a 5.5 basement floor, but its prisoners were quite unusual, and Buggy wasn't confident he could persuade them to join his escape.

The reason Buggy sought the monitoring room on the second basement floor was to rescue someone imprisoned there:

The former chief of the Baroque Works, his future "Royal Deputy," Mr. 3, Galdino!

Having Mr. 3 with him was like having a universal key, crucial for Buggy's plans.

That's why Buggy didn't mind spending so much time searching the second basement floor!

In the monitoring room of the second basement floor, a jailer spotted a fleeting blur on the surveillance screen and called out to his colleagues.

"Hey, come and see this!"

"What's up?"

The other jailers looked around but saw nothing unusual and looked at each other with puzzled expressions.

"No, look closely! It's moving so fast! Now it's gone! Wait a moment! There it is again!" The jailer, who noticed the anomaly, jumped up and pointed at one surveillance screen, then quickly switched to another.

"What is this?"

The others soon realized something was amiss—something was indeed moving at an incredible speed! The thing was moving so fast that even the monitoring phone bug couldn't keep up.

"Wait, look at its movements! It seems to be coming straight for us!" A jailer analyzed the path of the afterimage on the surveillance screen and exclaimed in surprise.

"What on earth is that?" another jailer asked. "Should we inform the warden?"

"Hold on!" The jailer who first noticed the anomaly stopped the others and pointed to one of the surveillance screens. "Look here! It's Basilisk! It's right outside! They're about to meet!"

One of the jailers let out a relieved exclamation. Basilisk was one of the strongest beasts on the second underground floor; with it around, they should be able to handle the unknown intruder.

In the next moment, the afterimage that had been moving towards the monitoring room appeared on the surveillance screen where Basilisk was located. As expected, the afterimage finally stopped upon encountering Basilisk, revealing its true identity.

"Buggy the Clown?! How did he end up here? Didn't he escape with those prisoners from the basement floor?" one of the jailers exclaimed in shock.

"Should we notify the warden?" another jailer asked.

"Wait a minute. If Basilisk takes care of him, we can just report the good news to the higher-ups!" a jailer suggested.

The other jailers agreed with this plan, as it would save them the trouble of reporting to the higher authorities twice.

They all had complete confidence in Basilisk's strength. However, they didn't know that Buggy had stopped not because he saw the massive Basilisk, but because he had already reached his destination.

"This should be it!"

Buggy sensed several life forms behind the stone wall in front of him, but he found it odd that there was no visible 'door' on the wall!

"Quack, quack, quack."

On a beam above the passage, Basilisk—a creature resembling a giant chicken and over twenty meters long—let out an enraged roar when it saw Buggy ignoring it.

"There's no choice. Looks like I'll have to force my way through!"

Buggy continued to ignore Basilisk, shaking his head and muttering to himself.

"Quack quack!"

Basilisk roared in fury and dove toward Buggy!

Buggy's figure flickered as he swiftly retreated several meters to evade Basilisk's sharp beak. Then he raised his arm and delivered a powerful punch!

"Split, Ordinary Punch!"

Buggy's fist shot forward and struck Basilisk squarely on the head!

The immense force sent Basilisk flying, crashing through the stone wall of the surveillance room!

The room erupted into chaos as Basilisk's massive form landed, crushing several jailers beneath him and rendering them unconscious!

The few jailers fortunate enough to avoid Basilisk's impact were pelted by the debris, groaning in pain!

Buggy withdrew his fist and stepped into the surveillance room.

"Stop! Stop! Buggy the Clown, don't make things worse!"

A relatively unharmed jailer stammered as he aimed his gun at Buggy.

Buggy glanced at the jailer, mildly surprised, and asked, "How much do you make each month?"

"Huh?" The jailer was momentarily stunned and answered reflexively, "Thirty-six thousand Baileys!"

Buggy replied nonchalantly, "That's roughly 1200 Baileys a day. What kind of life are you leading? Why don't you just lie down and play dead? You won't be held accountable anyway!"

"Huh?"

The jailer was taken aback, and the courage he had mustered was quickly drained by Buggy's words!

"Forget it, I'll handle it for you!"

Buggy didn't waste any more time talking. His palm detached from his arm once again, and he slapped the jailer across the face. The force of the blow sent the jailer crashing to the ground, unconscious.

As Buggy retrieved a set of keys hanging on the wall, he made his way to the monitoring desk. There, he examined the surveillance equipment.

In Impel Down, nearly every cell was equipped with a surveillance bug, allowing Buggy to view all the cells on the second basement level.

It didn't take long for Buggy to spot his target in the footage. Although he hadn't seen Mr. 3 in person before, the distinctive hairstyle made it easy for him to identify him among the prisoners.
