Chapitre 64: Boeki Village

Early in the morning.

After breakfast, Shigeru planned to complete the clan's performance evaluation.

Now the entire Hagoromo clan is working hard to restore the family's strength, and there are busy people everywhere in the clan.

After a war that nearly wiped out the entire clan, the Hagoromo clan suffered a huge loss in both number of ninjas and in materials and money.

The number of ninjas cannot be replenished for the time being, but it is necessary to reserve war preparation materials such as shurikens, swords and armor.

Since the Hagoromo clan does not have iron ore, these things cannot be made by themselves, so they must be purchased with money.

The money needed to purchase supplies requires clan ninjas to perform tasks or run family businesses to earn it.

So this involves another clan thing, ninja missions.

As a member of the clan, each ninja will be required to complete certain tasks within a certain period of time. Failure to do so will result in certain punishments.

This is what Shigeru calls clan performance evaluation.

Of course, with punishment there will be rewards. As long as you complete the task, the clan will not treat you badly and the rewards you deserve will not be less.

Upon entering the mission room, there were several disabled elderly people in charge of distributing the missions.

Shigeru looked around and saw that the task assignment was divided into two parts. The one on the left was suitable for mid-level genin, while the one on the right was suitable for ninjas above the Chuunin level.

This is the problem of the Warring States Period: the distribution of tasks is extremely unreasonable.

It's not like the ninja village period of later generations, where all tasks are divided into detailed levels like S, A, B, C, and D, and assigned to the appropriate ninjas.

During the Warring States Period, people only roughly divided tasks into two levels and were extremely imprecise.

Maybe you embark on a genin mission and the target of the mission turns out to be an elite jounin. In that case, you won't even have a chance to escape and you will die.

Faced with this deceptive division of missions, it is not surprising that in the future Tobirama creates a system in which everyone can choose missions of different difficulty according to their personal abilities, and there must be a superior who can reasonably distinguish the levels of the missions.

With this misleading division of missions, anyone with a long-term vision must undertake reforms.

It's a shame that in today's environment this is not something that can be done with vision alone. If you want to divide tasks in a reasonable way, you have to unify them to achieve this.

"Elder, I will accept a mission."

Shigeru walked to the right side of the quest room and received the quest from the person in charge.

Sitting behind the table is a middle-aged man, with no right arm, around forty years old. Of course, during the Warring States Period, this age was enough to be considered an old man.

Seeing that Shigeru was about to receive the mission, the old man smiled and handed him the booklet that recorded the missions. "These are the missions currently available in the clan, young patriarch you may choose one to carry out."

Shigeru took the booklet and opened it to check.

The records in it are quite confusing. Tasks can be roughly divided into clan-issued missions and external missions. However, there is no classification in the booklet. Clan-issued missions and external missions are all mixed together.

But there is no other option, he can only settle for that now.

"Hey?"

When he turned to the third page, Shigeru paused in curiosity.

Seeing this, the mission giver took a look at the booklet and then said, "The mission issued by the clan is to retrieve the stolen materials. During the previous war with the three clans, we purchased a batch of explosive seals from the Hatake clan, around 100,000 in total, however, when they were transported back, of the second batch of 20,000 explosive seals, only the Summoning Beast arrived and brought back some rough information to the clan, as for the materials and the clan members who purchased them, they directly disappeared. Judging from the situation, the chance of survival is very small."

After listening, Shigeru carefully read the information recorded in the booklet, which was similar to what the person in charge said.

He thought for a moment, then looked at the other person and said, "I'll accept this mission."

Missions issued by the clan, the reward is not money, but ninjutsu.

Because of the war, Hagoromo Ryokawa broke the rules and allowed Shigeru to learn a lot of ninjutsu. In normal times, these ninjutsu would have required contributions to the clan.

Now that the war is over, Shigeru will naturally have to perform tasks to make up for it. After all, the young patriarch has to follow the rules, right?

It just so happened that the two ninjutsu Shigeru had learned before, Tiger Attack and Wolf Festival, were both B-level ninjutsu. After completing this task, he could repay the debt.

Seeing that Shigeru had made his choice, the person in charge rummaged through the box beside him.

In less than a minute, he took out a black scroll from the box and handed it to Shigeru "All the information about this mission is on this scroll."

Scrolls for mid-genin level missions are white, while scrolls for upper-chunin level missions are black.

After taking the scroll, Shigeru was ready to leave.

However, as soon as he turned around, the person in charge of the mission reminded him, "Young Patriarch, be careful, the person who transported this material was a Jonin, but he only sent back rough information, so the enemy's strength was at least as strong as a Jounin level, and there may be more than one person."

Hearing the reminder from behind, Shigeru turned around and smiled, "Thank you!"

After saying this, he took the scroll and left the mission room.

Passing through the clan alley, Shigeru walked out of the clan gate.

At this moment, the slope on the east side has regained its smooth appearance after being fixed by the clan members.

After all, the Hagoromo clan has begun transporting various things and undertaking external missions. If the path is not easy to travel, how will they be able to communicate with the outside world?

Bōeki Village, a small village in the northern part of the Land of Fire.

The village is not very large and is surrounded by a wall of wooden stakes and thorns, more than two metres high, which serves mainly to protect against wild animals and bandits.

Needless to say, the bandits committed all kinds of crimes, including arson, murder, looting and animal slaughter, which also posed a great threat to the ordinary people in the village.

Therefore, the common people of the village can only use this crude method to defend themselves.

At noon, Shigeru entered the village, planning to find a place to have lunch.

This village is located in the south of the Hatake clan's territory, and between the Hatake clan and Bōeki village there is a forest of Olneya trees.

The Hagoromo clan's supplies disappeared in this area.

Entering the village, Shigeru looked around.

The surroundings of the village are not very good. There is no paved road, it is just a simple dirt track. If it rains, there will probably be mud.

Of course, during the Warring States Period, wars were fought everywhere.

The atmosphere in Bōeki Village was also common in this land. In fact, the atmosphere in many small villages may not be as good as that of Bōeki Village.

However, this has nothing to do with Shigeru. He is here to fulfill a mission. Once the mission is complete, he will probably not come back here, so there is no need to waste effort to change anything.

"Hi, I want to buy something to eat!"

Shigeru entered a two-story restaurant in the center of the city, preparing to have lunch there.
