"Will there be consequences for what happened today with the cops?" Paige asked them. Lance didn't look up while he signed, but his hand froze.
"No, we will take care of the rest." General Lambert nodded at her, finding the wound on her cheek unpleasant.
He cleared his throat,
"Jane and Terrence have already been told that you are here. Just don't tell them what happened; you have already signed the disclosure documents." The general said it decisively, pointedly looking at Lance, until the other sensed it and nodded.
The general sighed in comfort and let them be driven home.
Lance took the passenger right away, apparently not wanting to sit with Paige in the back.
Paige brushed off how this insignificant act irritated her, realizing that whatever they did to Lance was far more serious than she could have imagined.
