Chapter 91: The Resurrected Six-Armed Serpent Demon
"Master, be careful."
Curled up in Alex's arms, Ikaros stared fearfully at the six-armed serpent demon.
"After probing just now, I found out that the statue is actually an energy storage vessel for that monster. It doesn't have a physical body yet... Those cultists planned to perform a ritual to provide it with enough flesh and blood for resurrection. However, I've already forcefully interrupted that ritual..."
Indeed, as Ikaros said, Alex finally noticed that the six-armed serpent demon had a grim expression. She glared at the little angel in his arms, looking as if she wanted to devour her whole!
No wonder Bella was so furious. Years ago, when those wretched hero squads launched their final attack on the Demon King, Bella sensed something was wrong. So, when the goddess unleashed her full-scale AOE attack, Bella used a demonic secret art to transform herself into this cursed statue. This was a form of self-sealing; in this state, ordinary people wouldn't notice anything unusual about the statue. Only those with malice in their hearts or possessing infernal power could sense its presence and be influenced by it.
For Bella, hundreds of years passed in the blink of an eye; she had patience. And just as she had hoped, the Doomsday Cult found her remnant and were eventually guided here, beginning their plan to resurrect her. Even when the paladins arrived later, Bella didn't worry. Under her guidance, the Doom sorcerers had secretly turned the entire altar into a magic array. As long as they fought here, whoever died would have their soul and power nourish her.
When Ikaros sneaked close to Bella, the six-armed serpent demon lord already noticed her presence. However, she didn't mind since Ikaros seemed too weak to be a threat. She even started contemplating what to do with the angel. Should she tempt her into corruption? Or devour her power? It was a tough choice.
Because of this, when Ikaros reached out to place her hand on the statue, Bella didn't think it would pose any threat. However, the next moment left her stunned.
Although this little angel didn't possess strong divine power, Bella could sharply sense that almost as soon as Ikaros touched the statue, she infiltrated the magic array and deciphered its entire operation!
Then, to Bella's horror, the angel promptly severed the connection to her magic array!
Severed!
To make things worse, when the six-armed serpent demon lord attempted to retaliate, the quick-witted Ikaros gathered the remaining severed power and delivered a fierce blow to Bella!
It was akin to being interrupted mid-transformation as a magical girl and then getting slapped across the face!
Even a demon lord like Bella couldn't endure this!
She had initially thought the fragile little angel was harmless, but she hadn't expected there to be a lioness hiding under that appearance! That claw swipe nearly killed the six-armed serpent demon lord. Now, Bella glared at Ikaros, eyes burning with a desire to devour her. If not for Alex casting an invincibility spell on Ikaros in time, Bella would have already killed the angel and absorbed her power!
But... the most baffling part for the six-armed serpent demon lord was this: why couldn't she sense any divine power from this girl, despite her being an angel? And even more perplexing, what kind of power had this angel used to infiltrate her magic array? It was something entirely foreign to Bella.
No matter, she was dead!
Feeling the serpent demon's furious gaze, Ikaros trembled slightly but quickly glared back. After all, she was an artificial angel and would not back down.
"Master, the enemy's power is currently very weak. I suggest we take her down now! Her power level is only comparable to that giant you know!"
The giant? Could it be referring to Stone?
Hearing Ikaros, Alex immediately focused on the six-armed serpent demon. Sure enough, while her aura was intense, her actual power was no different from Stone's. This realization made Alex breathe a sigh of relief—phew, he thought he'd encountered another lich lord. Thankfully, he wasn't that unlucky!
"Alright, strike while the BOSS is debuffed and finish her off!"
"Ikaros, destroy the altar!"
Taking advantage of this moment, Alex scanned the surroundings. The number of flying demons was decreasing, but it would take time for the Pegasus knights to help. Behind him, the mercenaries were struggling, barely holding out thanks to Fina's healing spells. Without her shields and healing, they would've been defeated long ago.
In the short term, no reinforcements could help. The vampire archbishop had also vanished. He had claimed he would intervene when necessary. For now, Alex had no choice but to trust him.
"I'll hold off this damn serpent!"
"Yes!"
Hearing Alex's command, Ikaros quickly nodded. She glanced at the six-armed serpent demon lord before disappearing into the air—vanishing without a trace. While her combat abilities might be lacking, her intellect was sharp. Clearly, she understood that remaining hidden would make her more of a threat than staying at Alex's side.
"Damn wretched bird! I'll tear those wings off you and show you the true meaning of pain...!"
As Ikaros vanished, the six-armed serpent demon lord howled in fury, eyes wide as she stretched out her arms, seemingly preparing to do something. However, in the next moment, a dark energy surged forth, clamping tightly around the demon's neck, forcing her to swallow her words.
But even the dark energy could only restrain the demon lord for a second. Before Alex could launch another attack, the six-armed serpent demon screamed. An invisible force exploded around her, shattering the restraints. At that instant, Alex had already closed the gap between them, thrusting his longsword straight toward the serpent demon's heart.
"Mortal, you've successfully angered me!"
Of course I have, that's the whole point!
Hearing the demon's scream, Alex rolled his eyes but didn't falter. His sword continued its trajectory toward the target. The six-armed serpent demon reacted quickly, bending backward at an impossible angle for a human, dodging Alex's strike. In a flash, her arms moved, and Alex glimpsed several silver arcs slicing toward him, like blades of a meat grinder.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
This was Alex's first encounter with a creature like the six-armed serpent demon. However, his experience in "Dark Souls" had taught him to approach peculiar enemies cautiously. Having missed his strike, he quickly flipped backward, creating distance. In the next instant, six gleaming blades sliced through the afterimage he left behind, shredding it to pieces.
So fast!
Watching the blades whiz past, Alex couldn't help but break into a cold sweat. The demon wielded six scimitars with her six arms. It was obvious that this was her primary fighting style. Yet, he hadn't anticipated her speed. He had initially thought that with six arms, she would leave gaps during her attacks. However, to his surprise, her movements were so seamless that it felt as if six people were attacking him simultaneously! If he had been a half-step slower, he would have been cut down on the spot.
Has this damn demon mastered ambidexterity?
Well... I'm not easy to deal with either.
Staring at the six-armed serpent demon before him, Alex tightened his grip on his sword.
Who will be the victor? It's still too early to tell!
