Chapitre 6: The three Acadamy jutsu
Takayama Koji sensei showed an immediate interest in their interaction and the ensuing tension, lifting his chin and reflecting.
'Good timing for better motivation to learn and become better.'
'Unfortunately, though,' Koji sensei thought. He cannot allow this fight to continue, as it would appear that he is endorsing bullying. His reputation and career would go south if other senseis or his superior found out.
"Not today, boys," Koji sensei said, attempting to mediate between the two children. "I would love to see a student contest too, but let's wait until another day."
"You all just returned; we still haven't finished the review lesson; let's do it another time, shall we?" Koji sensei's final closure puts an end to the on-going tension between the two boys.
"Yeah, whatever," Inuzuka Seiji said annoyingly.
Hikaru could only sigh and lament in his heart, 'Ultimate instinct, my butt, can't even dodge the kid's fist' He loosens his clenched fist, knowing that one day he'd have to face him later. It would be futile to express frustration toward him at this point.
But he would definitely not forget this punch.
Looking back at Hikaru's bleeding nose, Koji sensei asks while pointing at his own nose, "Do you need any medical help with that?"
When Koji sensei noticed Hikaru shaking his head slightly, he turned to check the time and informed everyone.
"Everyone, let's move; we still have time to do some quick throwing practices."
All the classmates in the vicinity then hurriedly followed Koji sensei to the training area, where they began the exercise.
There were five target practices in the area, and people queued up in a row and waited for the Koji sensei signal to start showing off their skills.
When it was Hikaru's turn to perform, he did it exceptionally well. It might have been an early incident that caused the change in his performance, but every kunai and shuriken hit the center mark on the targets with exceptional precision.
Hikaru clenched his fist with happiness as he saw the result. His progress since his first solo attempt is remarkable.
Only nine out of ten hits were accurate when it was Inuzuka Boy's turn. Seiji only snickered at the result and said, "He's just lucky."
Koji remembered everyone's performance at the shurikenjutsu; not many have done any better than the last time beside Hikaru.
"This should be interesting," Koji muttered to himself.
As soon as the class ends, Hikaru leaves the training ground, goes back to the room, grabs his backpack, and heads back to his home.
This time, Hikaru simply walks back home to clear his mind and vent his frustration. Getting into a fight with a kid seems stupid for a growing adult mind like his. However, receiving an unwarranted punch to the face was unacceptable.
He would return the favor one day, when he had a chance.
As soon as Hikaru stepped into the house, Ayako immediately shouted, seeing his swollen face, "What is going on today, Hikaru-kun?"
"It's only your first day back, and you've gotten into a fight?" Ayako uttered words as she stood up and searched for some medication to ease the pain.
Hikaru could not help but feel embarrassed, scratching his nose, trying to avoid Ayako's eye contact, and making up an excuse. "I tripped myself on my way home."
His sister stared at him with a look of disbelief as she heard his explanation.
'You think I believed that?'
Ayako felt annoyed and said, "If you want to lie, why not say someone punched you while you slept?"
Hikaru's mouth twisted as he thought, 'She got pretty close; I was daydreaming, not sleeping.'
"So, what do we have for dinner today to celebrate your birthday, O-nee Chan?" Hikaru inquires, hoping to divert his sister's attention by bringing up her birthday.
His sister would turn seventeen today, while his birthday is about four months away.
"Don't think you are getting away with this." Her brows snapped together as Ayako remarked; she then added, "I already prepared everything on the table."
"Go wash your face and come back."
Hikaru swallowed hard when he heard it, but he followed her instructions quickly.
When Hikaru came back to the kitchen and saw the foods on the table, he was mesmerized; there were so many that he thought it was like a buffet. His sister really did give it all.
"So, what do you think? Hikaru-kun," Ayako asked after seeing her brother lick his mouth with a broad smile.
"Of course, it's amazing!" Hikaru exclaimed as he sat down at the table and began devouring everything he could see.
"Well, at least you are happy." Ayako smiled before shouting and complaining, "Wait, don't start eating without me; it's my birthday!"
After an hour of minor fighting between the siblings over food, Hikaru, feeling full, first gets up and stretches his body. "Happy birthday, O-nee Chan; the foods are delicious as always."
Ayako only gave him a stern look before snorting, "Huh."
"Tell me first what happened at the school." Ayako raises her voice as she stares at Hikaru, her brow knitted, and questions him further. "How did you get into a fight?"
Hikaru pursed his lip and sighed, "Not exactly a fight; just a bullying kid in class caught me off guard."
"Did you deserve it?" As he finished, Ayako abruptly interrupted. She tilted her head, looking at her brother and saying, "...and why are you trying to sound like you're not a kid?"
"You're all technically the same age."
Hikaru's mouth twisted as he cleaned his plate on the table. 'Is she on my side or what?'
"How is your business doing?" Hikaru asked a question, hoping to divert her attention.
"It's going quite well, especially the food street snack you suggested."
"You should try and make the barbecue meat smaller and place vegetables between them to make it look good." Hikaru gave her another suggestion for the barbecue stick: make it more appealing.
Ayako made a look of contemplation for a few moments before slightly nodding at his suggestion and saying, "You seem to have a lot of ideas for the food."
Hikaru admitted it with a smile while pounding his chest, saying, "I like eating foods, so I gave it a lot of thought."
Seeing his sister smile, Hikaru couldn't help but change the topic and tease, "You're seventeen now, O-nee Chan; is there any man interested in you that I should know about?" He dodges the chopstick that Ayako threw at him as he finishes his sentence.
Hikaru forced a small laugh and said, "There is no need to do that; I was just worried for you."
Ayako rolled her eyes as she heard her brother say, "Worry for me, or worry that you would not get to eat good food?"
"Both," Hikaru answered as he ran back to his room. He could still hear his sister complaining even when he closed the door.
"Whew," Hikaru sighs with a smirk on his face, thinking, 'It's time to test the three jutsu that I got today.'
Before Hikaru started the exercise, he rubbed his belly and felt that he had eaten too much. 'On a second thought, I may need to visit the restroom first.'
After finishing his business, Hikaru immediately grabbed the three jutsu from his backpack and began to read the instructions for performing them.
These three are only E-rank jutsu skills, so he should not have a problem using them. Hikaru then tries to perform the first jutsu hand seals, mold his chakra as instructed, and control his chakra pattern to the best of his ability.
Ram → Snake → Tiger
"Bushin no Jutsu" (clone technique).
A puff of smoke appears, and his two clones come out looking exactly like him. Hikaru was beaming at the nine clouds when it was successful on his first attempt, before beginning to analyze the situation more closely.
'Seems like I put too much chakra in, so two clones come out instead of one.' Hikaru nibbled on his bottom lip as he walked around the clones, inspecting them.
After going through a round of inspection, Hikaru finally said, "I now understand why people could easily distinguish this basic clone."
The primary purpose of the basic clone technique is misdirection; it lacks strength and substance. These techniques are not as tangible as other variants of cloning. An experienced ninja would see through this clone right away.
Although it is practically useless, it serves as a helpful introduction for a beginner like him. It requires little chakra, and he can study how to mold it efficiently until he can do it with one hand seal or none.
'Let's try the next one,' Hikaru thought, dispelling both the clones and beginning to concentrate his hand as he performed another one of the three jutsus.
Dog → Boar → Ram
"Henge no Jutsu" (transformation jutsu).
He performs this one while imagining himself as a Koiji sensei. However, the transformation did not turn out exactly as he had expected after looking in the mirror.
"Koji sensei shouldn't look too fat."
"Let's try again."
"Ok, now he's too thin."
"One more time."
"No, no, no..clothes?!"
A drop of sweat appears on Hikaru's face; perhaps his chakra control wasn't sufficient or his imagination was still lacking. Most of the transformations appear to be unsuccessful; they were either too much or too little.
After doing it for another five tries and still not getting it right, Hikaru then stopped for a moment to think, 'This skill uses more delicate chakra control than I thought'
After that, Hikaru decided to move on and tackle the last jutsu outside, because there was nothing big enough to use the technique with.
After arriving at the same training ground as before, he searched for a suitable place and began hand sealing to perform the jutsu.
Tiger → Boar → Ox → Dog → Snake
"Kawarimi no Jutsu" (body replacement technique).
A wooden log appeared where Hikaru was standing, accompanied by a puff of smoke.
'Not bad for a first try' Hikaru successfully executed the move, thinking, 'But it took a chunk of chakra.'
He cannot use his chakra control effectively enough, and it takes too long to use an E-rank skill with all the hand seals present. Imagine that in the future, one would have to use forty or fifty more hand seals just for one high-ranking jutsu skill.
It's important for Hikaru to try and reduce hand seals on this jutsu for battle and future reference.
Hikaru, seeing that his chakra reserve still has a little less than half-full, kept practicing the body replacement technique until it almost depleted and called it a day.

As you all can see, even one of the E-level ninjutsu skill already uses so many hand seals. Imagine the high-level skills it requires.
