Chapitre 5: Chapter 5 Marriage

The word fiancée whirled around in Klaus's head, and, oh, he remembered, he did have a Southern fiancée.

What was her name, Lydia or Winnie? Fucking hell, he's not going to deliberately memorize each other's names, because the marriage is simply a done deal.

A week before, he had been summoned by the king with the news that, in order to make an alliance with the South, he would need to marry the daughter of a Southern alpha. This shocked and disconcerted Klaus.

"You want me to marry a Southern girl?" Klaus looked at the old silver-haired man who sat before him, his father and king.

His relationship with his father has been strained since his father revoked the princely title. Since leaving the royal family, Klaus has formed his own pack, and while some people only know him as Alpha Klaus, they do not know his other identity.

A year earlier, Klaus had been ordered by the king to fight the Legion of the Rogue on the front line. He was unhappily wounded in the engagement, and fell unconscious. When he wakes up, he realizes that his tribe has become Dyson's. The reason given by the king was, that he had been killed in battle. The reason given by the king was that, while he was unconscious, his tribe rebelled. The king orders Dyson to quell the rebellion, and Dyson takes the opportunity to take over Kraus' tribe.

Dyson was the king's illegitimate son and Klaus's brother. But there was little brotherly love between them, and Dyson had always regarded Klaus as a competitor, because he had always wanted to succeed him.

His father had stripped him of his title, had deprived him of his pack, and now wanted him to marry a strange woman.

Klaus was no fool; he would not yield so easily to the king's demands.

"What do I get if I marry that southern girl?" Klaus asked.

"What do you want Klaus? "said the king, half squinting his eyes as he surveyed his son.

"My pack," Klaus offered his terms. He knew that the King held this alliance with the South in the highest estimation, and he felt sure that the King would not refuse his request.

"What makes you think I'll agree to your demands? "the king's voice trailed off, a displeased expression on his face.

"You asked me to attack the West, and I went. "Klaus said," In that battle with the West, I not only lost my mate, I injured my other eye. You let Dyson take over my pack, and now I have nothing. If you want me to fulfill the Alliance's plans, then give me back my PACK."

The king was silent for a moment, perhaps because he felt that he owed too much to the son, and finally he compromised.

"Okay, as long as you marry that girl from the south, I will give you back your pack. "the king emphasized," but your marriage must remain for at least a year."

"A year?" Klaus raised an eyebrows, "So the Confederate contract between the South and the North only lasts for a year?"

"For now." The king spilled the truth behind the marriage, "Although the South and the North used to fight, but now that the West has risen, the king of the South is afraid of being attacked by the West, so he desperately needs an alliance partner to fight the West together."

"Are you afraid of the West too?" There was a hint of defiance in Klaus's words. He knows the political game is far more complicated than it appears.

The King let out a sigh, exhaustion and helplessness showing on his face, "The North needs time to recover its economy as well, an alliance with the South would do us no harm."

Klaus was silent for a moment, then said, "Fine, I grant your request." A determination was revealed in his voice, "At the same time, I expect you to keep your word."

"A king never breaks his promises." The king's words rang true. It is their tradition that once a promise is made, it is kept.

Yes, the king is a man of his word. Klaus smiled inwardly, knowing that the power of the king was supreme, and that he could give you anything you wanted, or take it away from you.

Klaus's thoughts came back to the present. He did not realize that the girl who had leaped from the window in front of him was his Southern fiancée. Did she jump out of the window to get away from her marriage? It seemed as if she would not marry him. Oh, that's too bad. For he had to make her marry him.

There was a gleam of determination in Klaus's eyes, and he knew that this marriage was to him not merely a union of individuals, but of two packs. He could not help seeing the girl in his own mind's eye, the way she acted, the look on her face, and her evident resistance.

Klaus knew that he needed to do something to ensure that the reluctant fiancée would become his wife; It was not only his personal fate that was at stake, but the future of the entire North.
