"Alex, don't you think our parents' attitudes have greatly changed?" Lily couldn't help but say, "They weren't like this when we were kids."
"My father was wrong in how he treated your family," Alex said, holding her hand tightly in his own. "I hope that after we get married, our families can resolve their differences."
"Mm."
"Does it suddenly feel like our marriage carries much responsibility?" Alex smiled warmly, his voice gentle, but something else was in his tone.
