"Lily, go get your checkup," Ethan said, sitting up straight and suppressing the dull pain in his chest. He leaned down and kissed her lips, his breath carrying the scent of noodles as it brushed across her clean, well-defined face.

Lily nodded slightly, but before she could take more than a couple of steps, Nanny gently pressed her into a wheelchair.

Dr. Joel was a Russian man in his forties. He had sharp, deep-set features and a rather good-natured disposition.

When Lily saw him, his face was bruised and swollen… clearly, he had been beaten.

After a series of tests, Dr. Joel sat behind his desk and said, "Based on these results, we will prepare a targeted treatment plan. You can pick up the report tomorrow."

"Actually, my stomach issue isn't that serious, right?" Lily couldn't help but ask.
