Chapitre 7: President Lena
Sitting on a chair, the president of Angelic's Design greeted me with a mature smile.
Miss Lena, the president of the modeling agency, is a woman in her mid-twenties. Her long blonde hair and bright green eyes shone brightly. She wore a black dress and a white leather scarf, which was only something rich people would wear.
She could easily become a model. However, she had her reason for not doing so, and it was something I shouldn't get involved with.
"Miss Lena, it has." I return the greeting.
"Miss Lena, may I know why you have called for me?" As the company's president, she had many duties to attend to. She could push it onto her underlings, but I still think that she has other things she could be doing other than bothering with me.
"Do you think I have a reason to call for you?" Lina teasingly said as she stared at me.
I couldn't tell whether Lena was serious or not. All I could give her was a wary smile.
"You're the one I have personally recruited, and the only one, to be exact." This was news to me. But when a woman compliments someone in such a fashion, most of them obviously have something they want.
"Since you don't want to play along, let's understand why I called you here." The playful tone she had disappeared, replaced with a lighter tone, that of a teacher.
"During these past two days, the sales featuring you increased by a large margin." Lena held a magazine of me wearing branded clothes.
The sales of clothes differed from branding and cost from the brand. I doubt Lena wanted to talk only about that, considering it might only be a coincidence.
"Compared to the other modeling you have done before, which was done in an amateurish way, I felt that you have improved in many aspects." Another magazine she had was that of my predecessor.
"Don't you see? The stark difference? Your confidence, style, and charm had improved drastically. I don't know how or care about the reason, but I'm here to discuss it in future terms." Finally, when getting into the real business, Lena stated what she wanted.
Compared to my predecessor, I was more fluent in acting. I had never taken acting classes or taken things that could help me as a model, but with more experience in adapting to my role, I could do various things that my predecessor couldn't.
My core was like a malleable ball. I was someone who was easily influenced by others. With the addition of my bipolar personality, it was easy to feel a wide variety of emotions that most wouldn't experience. I have already accepted this as a fact.
"Personally, with a talent like yours, I can see you getting snagged right before me. State your terms. I know you don't think much of modeling, but you have what it takes to become a star. Wealth, fame, women, or whatever you want can be easily obtained if you take modeling seriously." What Lena says is tempting, but my dream of being a Pokemon trainer is much more important.
"I'm flattered by your words. However, the only way I could see myself becoming such a star is if being such a star would assist me in the path of a Pokemon trainer." I didn't reject Lena's offer outright, but I wanted to gauge her reaction.
If she claims I have such a talent for modeling, she shouldn't have a problem assisting my dream. It would be stupid of me not to take advantage of it.
Besides, she benefits from this. When I become successful as a Pokemon trainer, she will be gaining a model and a top-tier Pokemon trainer. Lena took a while to think. She was considering the benefits she could get from helping me.
"Helping you become a Pokemon is doable. The thing is, I'm having trouble thinking about how much I should invest." Lena had confirmed that she was willing to sponsor me, but the amount she would help was still unclear.
"Let's do a test. While I know you're talented at becoming a star, the same can't be said for a trainer. My family has a few trainers that could act as personal trainers, but don't you think I'm losing a little if I don't state my own terms?" I don't get why she wants to do it a roundabout way when she could just do what she wants.
"Just state what you want, and if it's something reasonable, I can agree."
"Being too straight-forward is a double-edged sword." She said, smiling as if the calculating thoughts had disappeared.
"The first term is the most obvious, and it doesn't include anything about you being a trainer. I want you to sign a contract to be an exclusive modeler for my company. Meaning that unless you have permission, you can't model unless I say the word. I won't be a slave driver, and I won't lessen your opportunity. You can reject any job you want, but you also would need to do a quota. More will be on the contract, but you can read it alone."
"As for the test, I will discuss it with you tomorrow. I will contact my family for a professional trainer, and they will give me an idea for a test as they're more qualified for it."
"Do know that if you fail this test, any help will be halted, and the amount you got will need to be paid back in full."
"That's all I have to say. Do you agree with this arrangement?" Her gaze was heavier than usual, as this was an important matter.
It was also the most important moment of my life, next to the day I had died.
"I agree." I saw no better chance than this. I didn't know how great the trainer was, but with the help of an experienced trainer, I can't possibly see a future where I fail.
