Chapitre 7: CHAPTER 7: LOST IN THOUGHTS
It was already past 3am when I went into my room. I took a quick shower, changed into my pajamas and went to my bed, next to the window. I shared room with my sister, Serena. I looked over to her bed, which was on the other corner, she was already fast asleep. I lay awake, looking up at the ceiling.
'will I ever be able to go to Volta?' I thought. I pictured myself up at a huge castle, with all my siblings, looking over a view of an entire city. Then my mind drifted off to everything Caitlin had said about Raya.. She killed all those people just to show her power, just so everyone would fear her. To think that I could actually related be to such a monster is purely terrifying.
Then I remembered Ethan Clayton. I felt sorry for him, to have to live with a family that hurts him so much. I kept turning over in my bed because of the frustration of not being able to do anything for him or for anyone else, until I finally fell asleep.

I was woken up by my youngest sister Elena, who came in yelling "KARA! SERENE! CAITLIN IS HERE!!"
"Shut up! I know!" I groaned. Once I was awake, it was impossible for me to go back to sleep. "You know?! Serene? You too?" Elena asked feeling disappointed that she wasn't able to surprise her sisters with this news. "Yea, mom told me. Now get out" Serena mumbled into her pillow.
I chuckled and got up. I got dressed and went downstairs to the kitchen. It smelled like pancakes. "Hey hon. I was just telling Elena. Peter's coming home for the summer break today." my dad filled me in. It had been almost 2 years since I last saw Peter, after he went to Korea for his education. My dad was sitting at the kitchen counter chairs reading a newspaper while Caitlin was apparently having an argument with someone on her phone, and Elena was munching on her pancakes.
"-you. You have to do it the other way! How many times more are you going to screw up this assignment?!... Just do your part and I'll do mine. Alright?" Cait hung up. "Everything okay, sweetie?" My mom asked coming ovee to the counter top with the tray of pancakes.
"Professor Dickens assigned the laziest dude to my project team! We were all working fine, but he said 'you are the only team with one member short, so you guys can work with Vincent, the new kid'. I mean, he may not have been at our college for long but everybody knows he's a dick-" "Language Infront of the kids, Caitlin!" My mom shouted. "Sorry, but it's true. He literally -"
Caitlin continued talking about her college. She was 17 and a freshmen at a renowned University in Toronto city.. I honestly only half listened. I had already eaten my breakfast and was waiting for them to finish too, so we can continue where we left, earlier this morning about Raya, and the fury of the phoenix.
After over an hour when my dad had left for the airport to pick Peter up and my mom was done with chores and Caitlin had finished helping Jason with some summer break project, I approached my mom and Cait, as they were watching a show on the TV. "Hey, Kay. This is a 16+ TV show. Get outta here" Cait said as she put more potato chips into her mouth.
"Well.. I was just wondering if you could tell me more about Raya..?" I asked timidly. "No. You cannot!" My mom said in a cold rone
"You are still too young to know everything."
"Don't worry! How about this?" Cait spoke "we tell you everything you wanna know after you're 16?"
"Seriously?" I asked getting angry " I don't think age should matter when It comes to the lives of my-" Caitlin cut me off. "Melody herself will tell you everything, after you're 16. You only have to wait 4 more years.."
"Why can't she just call and tell me right now?" I asked. "She's very I'll as you already know! She can't talk to anyone. Now go play with Serena or get out and get some fresh air. I'm sure you'll be needing it especially after Peter comes back. Although I think I'll be needing it more, after hearing you two bicker and fight about the smallest of things."
I ignored what she said about Peter and again asked "If Mel's so ill, why aren't you guys taking care of her?"
"Kara, please. We'll tell you everything, but just not now. Caitlin's right, how about you go out to the park? Hmm?"
I had nothing more to say and I just decided to go out and get some fresh air like Cait said.
I was back af the same park, sort of hoping to see Ethan again. I giggled at thinking he would make a good therapist. I went over to the same bench, and sat down. After a few minutes of just sitting there and watching the other kids play with their friends, I decided to go back.
It was true, that I barely had any friends.. most of the friends I've ever had have always been fake. They only tried befriending me for my brains. I was usually top at my school in most things. And other kids around my home, did become friends with me but stopped talking, thinking I was super weird.
At least now I know why weird things happened around me so much. I have powers...
I got up to go back home, and I almost walked into this guy. "I'm so sorry"
He was really tall. I looked up. He had dark hair, and he was wearing a hat. He looked familiar.. "Are you serious right now, Kay? It's me!" It was Peter. "Oh! Oh my god! How did you grow this much in such little time!"
'He looks happier now' I thought and smiled at the tall guy standing in front of me.
