"Chloe, darling, what on earth happened to your face?" Mrs. Everett asked, her voice filled with a mix of concern and amusement. She took a step closer, squinting slightly as if trying to assess the damage.

Chloe groaned, pulling her hoodie back up over her head. "Mom, it's nothing. Just a little skincare mishap."

"A little mishap?" Her father's deep voice rumbled from behind. "You look like you've been on the wrong end of a sunlamp."

I stifled a laugh, trying to keep a straight face as Chloe shot me a warning glance.

"Oh, darling," Mrs. Everett said, barely able to contain her giggle, "you look like you fell asleep on the beach without sunscreen."

Chloe crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. "Thanks for the support, Mom. Really feeling the love here."

Her dad chuckled, patting her on the back. "You know, Chloe, if this whole villa thing doesn't work out, you could always moonlight as a stop sign."
