The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow on Elena's sleeping face. I lay beside her, savoring the tranquility of the moment. Her breathing was steady, her expression peaceful. I gently traced a finger along her cheek, marveling at how much had changed in such a short time.

Despite the shadows of fear that still occasionally crossed her features, she was slowly but surely finding her way back to me. I needed to do everything in my power to make sure she felt safe, loved, and cherished.
