The day passed pleasantly.
Until late at night. The barking and crowing of chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs started again.
This time, the awakened people weren't as good-tempered as the day before. They cursed the noisy animals, even threatening to kill the chickens and ducks tomorrow morning and make soup out of them.
The town gradually quieted down only after the animals stopped their commotion.
Wen Nannan held a pen in her hand, her eyes filled with suspicion as she wrote in her notebook:
[Flower Field Town, Day 8, 1:01 AM: Second abnormal barking incident among town animals]
Once could be a coincidence, but twice might not be.
Animals always had a keener sense of perception than humans.
Flower Field Town, Day 8, early morning
Wen Nannan, holding her notebook, happened to see Lu Huai doing his morning exercise.
"By the way, Brother Lu, do you remember when the first animal commotion happened?"
"Around 1 AM on the seventh day."
