Chapitre 82: LICKED THE WRONG PERSON

Luciano awoke with a start, earlier than he normally would so that he could make sure he was awake before the mortal. That way, he would have enough time to write a letter of farewell and sneak out of the motel room without waking him up. The dim morning light filtered through the grimy curtains. As he reached over to the other side of the bed, his eyes widened in surprise.

When he saw that the other side of the bed was empty, he sprung up worriedly. His eyes flickered all over the place, bemusement blinking red in his head. Panic gripped him as he threw the tattered sheets aside and leapt from the bed. Where was the mortal? Had he left in the middle of the night? Had something happened to him? A thousand worst case scenarios played out in his mind as he frantically scanned the bedroom.

When he caught the ajar bathroom door, he crept towards it. The lights were off. His footsteps were muffled by the thin, stained carpet.
