Vulcan shook his head slowly in affirmation, his eyes beaming with terror. What unfolded next wasn't what I expected. In fact, Mr. Olsen gleamed in excitement, "Oh, really? Since when? How old is he?"

Vulcan and I exchanged an unknowing look, gulping hard on our saliva. I caught his gaze with mine, and in the heat of the moment, made him look down at the finger I held so we wouldn't make a mistake.

His eyes, upon sighting my signal, we both chimed, "4." And with a nervous chuckle, my face flushing red, I added, "He is 4. I'm sorry the story between me and your grandson goes way back." My teeth shone in awkwardness. I still couldn't believe he didn't suspect anything.

"His name is Frederick." I said when Mr. Olsen opened his mouth to talk, but I realized that too late when I had already spoken over him.

"Frederick? Come, come, come, Frederick." He opened his arms, but Frederick was a little reluctant.
