Chapitre 4: An angel stuck in hell With memories and bitter truth Part-2

Riona suddenly realized that her thoughts had wandered and brought her attention back to reality. She had been so captivated by the sea and its mysteries that she almost forgot the task she had set out to do.

"Oh no!" Riona exclaimed, softly slapping her forehead with her palm. "I'm supposed to be going to the farm, not the sea!" Despite her realization, a pang of disappointment still lingered in her chest.

Riona hurriedly turned her back on the sea, determined to stay focused on her task at hand. As she walked down the path that led to the farm, her mind swirled with thoughts of the sea and its secrets.

The sun continued to shine overhead, casting its warmth on her skin as she walked along. The path was quiet, save for the occasional chirping of the birds in the trees. Riona's footsteps fell in time with her heartbeat, setting a steady rhythm as she made her way towards the farm.

Before long, she arrived at the farm. The sight of the barn and the fields of crops greeted her. The smell of freshly upturned earth and growing plants filled her nostrils, grounding her back in her task and clearing her mind of the sea. She took a deep breath, ready to focus on the work that lay ahead.

Riona spent the day tirelessly working on the farm. She removed weeds from the land, planted new seeds, and harvested the fruits and vegetables that were ready. The sun traversed across the sky, its warmth falling upon her as she worked.

As the late afternoon approached, the sun began to dip below the horizon, signaling the end of the day. Riona looked up and saw the sky turning a deep orange and violet, the first stars beginning to appear.

As the sun made its final descent, painting the sky in a dazzling array of colors, it seemed as if the heavens themselves were putting on a spectacular show. The sky burned with hues of vibrant oranges, pinks, and purples, as if the setting sun was taking its last bow before disappearing from view. The stars of the evening began to blink on, like tiny jewels against the backdrop of the darkening sky.

The air was filled with a sense of peace and awe, as if the very world was pausing to appreciate the beauty of the sunset. Riona stood in the middle of the field, the sunset casting a golden glow over her tired but satisfied face.

Her hair was disheveled, and a thin layer of sweat covered her skin from the day's work. Even though she was physically exhausted, there was a contented expression in her eyes, the satisfaction of a job well done filling her heart. Her dress were covered in dust and dirt from toiling in the fields all day, but her smile remained bright.

As Riona walked back home after a long day at the farm, her body was tired and aching from the hard work, but her heart was lighter. The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving behind a dark, inky sky with a sprinkling of stars.

Reaching the small house where she lived with her aunt, uncle, and cousin, Riona pushed open the door and stepped inside. The house was cozy, but modestly furnished, and the warm light shining through the windows welcomed her back.

She overheard her aunt and uncle whispering to each other in hushed tones, their words unintelligible. As soon as they noticed her, they abruptly stopped and her aunt quickly made her way to the kitchen, while her uncle hurriedly went somewhere else in the house.

Although Riona wasn't particularly curious about what they had been whispering about, she couldn't help but feel a pang of suspicion at their secretive behaviour. It was odd for them to act that way and she wondered what they could have been discussing.

Later at midnight. Riona stood outside the house, staring up at the night sky. The air was cold and crisp, and the clouds that loomed overhead moved in a slow, ominous way. Riona couldn't shake the feeling that rain was on the way.

Just then, she heard the sound of the door opening behind her and turned to see her cousin step outside. Her cousin approached her, a look of concern on her face, and Riona knew that something important was coming "Barbara?" Riona said softly.

"Riona," Barbara said, her voice soft and laced with concern. "I need to talk to you. It's important!" Riona turned to face Barbara fully, her curiosity piqued. "What is it?" she asked, not able to hide the note of worry from her own voice.

Barbara approached her and enveloped her in a tight hug. The two had always been like sisters, and in that moment, Barbara's concern for Riona's well-being was evident.

"Riona, you have to escape!" Barbara implored, her voice trembling with emotion. "Mother and father... They want to sell you as a slave. They need the money. You have to get out of here, quick!" Riona stood frozen in surprise and shock, unable to comprehend what her cousin was saying.

Sell her as a slave? Had her aunt and uncle truly been considering this option? The thought was abhorrent and terrifying. But the look on Barbara's face, the tears streaming down her cheeks, confirmed the truth of the words she had spoken. A cold feeling of dread washed over Riona.

Riona looked into her cousin's tear-filled eyes, a mixture of confusion and fear in her own expression. "But why?" she managed to get out. "Why would Aunt and Uncle do something like that?"

The night sky seemed even more ominous now, and a shiver ran down Riona's spine, but it wasn't only from the cold... the first drops of rain began to fall, the soft pitter-patter of water hitting the ground filling the air.

The clouds had gathered fully overhead, now completely covering the stars and adding to the sense of impending doom. Riona shivered as the cold raindrops touched her skin. Barbara spoke with sadness "They are desperate for money," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of the rain. "They said that they can get a good price."

But even as she said the words, there was a tinge of sadness and uncertainty in her eyes. She knew that what her family was planning was wrong, but she felt powerless to do anything to stop it. Riona's eyes widened in shock as Barbara words sank in, her usual smile fading away completely.
