Chapitre 73: I'm Here to Hammer You

Jonathan and Martha had just finished lunch when they received some unexpected guests at their home.

"Lana, Clark took my necklace," Lana gasped as she burst through the door, addressing Jonathan and Martha.

Chloe and Pete wore concerned expressions as well.

"I overheard him mention Jessica, and his tone was off," Pete said to Jonathan.

"The new neighbors, the Lopezes, are important witnesses under police protection. Perhaps Clark has realized something and intends harm," Chloe speculated. "Though we don't know why he took Lana's necklace."

Jonathan and Martha exchanged a glance upon hearing this.

Shaking his head with a sigh, Jonathan said, "It's not just Clark we need to worry about; it's Eric too. And Eric is due back from Gotham today."

Upon hearing Eric's name, Lana's anxious expression intensified. "Uncle, are you saying Clark might harm Eric?"

"I can't be sure, but things have escalated to a critical point," Jonathan replied, striding to the cupboard and retrieving a green meteorite.

"Clark won't listen to reason anymore; only we can stop him!"

"Gulp!"

Seeing Jonathan's serious expression, Pete swallowed nervously. "Is it really that serious? Maybe we should wait until Eric returns."

"There's no time, and Clark is likely prepared for Eric's arrival," Jonathan insisted.

"Pete, come with me to Jessica's house."

After putting on their coats, Jonathan called Pete to action.

Glancing at Lana and Chloe, Pete shrugged and quickly followed Jonathan's footsteps.

Lana and Chloe, not willing to wait at home, bid Martha goodbye and left the farm to head towards Jessica's house.

Meanwhile, at Jessica's house.

After knocking, Clark entered without acknowledging Jessica's hug, removing his sunglasses and getting straight to the point. "I know why your dad went on the run. Bring out that magnetic file chip and hand it over to me!"

"You!" Jessica couldn't understand why the boy she liked, who had been so close seconds ago, could act like this now?!

"I don't understand why you're doing this, Clark."

"Simple, money!" Clark's mouth twisted into a fake smile. "You know I'm leaving here and need a lot of money to live. My life won't be stuck here, Jessica. I need to rise above; you'll support me, won't you?"

"That would kill my dad! I won't give it to you."

The rebellious girl, always in conflict with her father, rarely showed a protective attitude. "You won't!"

"Huh!"

Clark shrugged, half sitting on the dining table. "Everyone will die, not just your father, right?"

Bang!

The door suddenly swung open, and Jessica's father stood in front of her with a gun, aimed at Clark.

"Get out of here, kid, you don't want to try getting hurt!"

"Who do you think you are, convincing me? Even my parents couldn't do that, so why do you think you can?"

Clark tilted his head, chuckling softly, and the next moment, the gun was in his hand.

With a light squeeze, Clark crushed the gun.

Turning around casually, Clark activated his X-ray vision to search the room.

"I don't like playing hide and seek. Where did you hide the chip? The ceiling or the floor?"

Bang!

A punch hammered the entire wall cabinet, leaving a huge hole in the wall.

"Not here?!"

With one hand, he picked up the TV and smashed it towards the man.

Jessica's father dodged backward, but the next moment, Clark grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up.

"Why don't you save yourself and your daughter and give me the thing? Huh?!"

Clark's patience was wearing thin as he glared fiercely at the man.

Creak!

Suddenly, the screeching of a car's brakes came from outside the yard.

Holding the man, Clark looked outside.

Finding his father and Pete coming out of the car.

Especially Jonathan, who was holding a big hammer and coming towards him.

It seemed that the large iron hammer was not used to hit tractors but to hit himself.

Clark smiled slightly and threw down Jessica's father, facing Jonathan and his former dead man.

"Wow, it seems that my father and friends are coming to deal with me."

"You don't know what you're doing now, Clark."

Jonathan raised the iron hammer in his hand, aiming at Clark. "I won't let you hurt anyone!"

Clark didn't take his father's threat seriously. Instead, he glanced at Jessica, who helped her father up, and then calmly told his father, "You still want to command me, but I'm no longer the old Clark Kent!"

Saying that, he walked casually towards Jonathan.

Seeing his father's tense expression, Clark tilted his head.

"You look a little scared?"

After a pause, he realized, "Seriously, you and Mom are very afraid of me. Maybe you've always thought that Eric and I are monsters."

"No, we love you very much."

Jonathan shook his head, "So I'm very sad at this point!"

"Pete!"

He shouted at Pete on the other side.

Pete, who was already prepared, immediately pulled out a lead box and opened it to Clark.

As soon as the lead box opened, Clark immediately released his thermal vision.

Despite the weakness quickly attacking him, he successfully destroyed the meteorite in the lead box.

Jonathan's meteorite specially prepared for Clark was melted by the heat wave.

Bang!

Clark spat out a breath, in his turn and the mission away.
