The Grand Waltz Op. 43 played and though Charlton and Serena were both feeling awkward, having been trained in dancing for more than half of their lives, their body moved on autopilot.
Charlton's left reached for Serena's right, and their hands connected. They took a turn before stepping a little closer to each other to take proper position. Inevitably, as Charlton placed his right hand on the small of her back, their eyes met.
Each caught their breath, but the music did not stop. As the music continued to play, their bodies also moved, flowing gracefully to the beat. Step left, step right, then turn. Step right, step left and turn. Then repeat.
Charlton was keeping a straight face, and Serena was also concentrating. With the lack of any excitement with the two dancing almost robotically, everyone watching started to lose interest and some started joining the dance.
