On this day, the knights moved in close proximity with Virtya and no one was allowed to get near him after the assassination attempt. Probably, there might be other assassins walking in the midst of the workers while waiting for the opportune moment to strike, therefore, the knights had to be utterly vigilant.
At the site where the cement plant was being erected, activities could be seen going on not only where Virtya was but also all around.
First, the raw materials like the sand and gypsum were still coming in. After all, these raw materials were not found in Pollow district like the limestone rocks.
Virtya ordered for the collection of raw materials before the completion of the cement plant because he didn't have a reliable transportation system that could enable quick and continued transportation of raw materials to the cement plant which forced him to start collecting the raw materials early.
After all, Virtya wanted to see the sample of the cement manufactured right after the cement plant started its operations, he didn't want to start waiting for the raw materials to be collected after the completion of the plant.
On the floor of the rift valley, one could see many workers moving by while pulling, pushing or carrying something on their shoulders. Moreover, one could also see wagons, pulleys, mud and puddle because the marsh had been stepped on by the workers here and there until it had became one with the ground. Only foot paths were the only things that prevailed.
Since it rained at night, the Salto river was still strong as ever as it threatened to uproot the bridges that connected the western part of Pollow with the Eastern part.
However, it could be seen that on the flat land upon a certain hill, some structures had begun to take shape. After all, the supervisors and the directors that were chose to ensure that each stage of the cement plant came to being were not incompetent. These supervisors were the chosen one from the many applicants for this job like Osip Minsky, that was why no stage was impeded.
Many of the labourers were slaves because buying and keeping the slaves were much cheaper than employing real workers from Azuhai and that was why there were only a few real workers who had also been given charge to take control over these slaves so that nothing was disrupted.
The cement plant was coming up very fast because of how serious Virtya was taking this mission. He had many workers who ensured that each stage of the cement plant was being built without stalling because Virtya was keeping the money flowing here so that the cement plant came to being.
Even if the merchants from the kingdom of Litbridge gave Virtya 10 million which was not enough for the cement plant, Virtya had managed to get the remaining 5 million gold coins for the cement plant and the other 5 million gold coins for cannon making.
Of course, this was made possible because of the large amount of barley that he planted, even if the continued flow of barley into the market had made its price to plummet quickly, that didn't stop Virtya from selling this commodity because he was desperate and he wanted money very fast.
Actually, the denizens of Azuhai alone could not buy much barley and that was why Virtya opted to venture into the foreign markets like in the kingdom of Ugley and Litkesh. He didn't allow his agents to step into the kingdom of Magyo after what happened with the first group that he sent there to sell the carriages and the clothes. Virtya emphasized in reaching even new markets across the Southern continent so that he could sell his produce.
Nevertheless, the transportation of this commodity was a problem since the horses which were used to pull the wagons full of barley were not that reliable since they needed to stop for the horses to rest and eat and sometimes the horses might become sick and die on the way or the carriages might get stuck on the unfavorable terrain since the roads were not tarmacked. There was mud, stones, trenches, ditches and the unfavorable weather itself was also an enemy since they were approaching winter.
