Chapitre 73: Cement plant (10)

Virtya asked the workers to fasten other H beams across the bank of the waterfall, these H beams would be lay in parallel from the one which was installed into the horizontal trench.

The workers were needed to fasten the one ends of the newly parallel H beams to the upper part of the exposed vertical H beam which was wet. The remaining ends of the newly parallel H beams were then fastened to the protrution of the vertical H beam that was partially installed into the vertical trench. They fastened several parallel H beams onto the upper parts of the vertical H beams which made it look like a railing but it was a strong support that Virtya could come up with.

The same thing was done on the Western side of the waterfall thus finalizing the support that would be holding the steel turbine blades in place.

Make no mistake, these H beams were made with ports beforehand where the bolts could pass through so that the nuts could be screwed on, thus, fastening the H beams to other pieces of steel.

Actually, it took the labourers more than three hours to install and fasten the H beams together for both the Western side and the Eastern side. When all this was finished, the workers marveled at the finished product as they wiped the sweat from their faces but it was not over even if the sun was about to set, not to mention that it had now started drizzling.

Even if Virtya was sure that it would rain heavily at night, he was still adamant about continuing with this work and the assassin in the midst of the workers could be seen smiling lightly when he heard this information because darkness was the assassin's domain and this assassin didn't want to make a mistake, he planned to make a sure killing blow when the knights had lowered their guard and then he would jump into the waterfall. Whether he lived or died, that didn't matter as his main concern was to finish this mission assigned to him.

Anyway, under the drizzle, Virtya asked for another round of H beam steel to be taken out of the warehouse.

This newly brought H beam was plated with copper to slow down the effect of the corrosion of the water on this steel. Moreover this new H beam had a long narrow open groove that run at the middle of its body. Virtya made this H beam this way because he didn't want to waste much iron in making a complete H beam, secondly, he wanted to reduce the mass of this steel that would be used as a support and holder for the axle of the steel turbine blades.

Virtya would have made this piece of H beam steel with a hundred percent copper but copper was too expensive not to mention that it was also ductile unlike iron which was rigid and strong.

Since the waterfall was 30 metres wide, Virtya was forced to fasten several pieces of H beams together so that the final piece could fit from the horizontal trench on the west to the horizontal trench found on the east of the waterfall.

"Pull the damn steel over the bridge!" Virtya hollered.

He was totally drenched as the drizzle fall on his hat before the water droplets collected themselves and fell on his shirt thus adding to the wetness of his attires. The darkness was also threatening to extinguish the little sunshine that was almost absent but the lightening strikes that struck one at a time, pushed the darkness away.

"His majesty king Virtya is so hardworking, he is not like our king, the king of Litkesh, by now, that fool would have been in his brothel corridors doing his thing."

"This has to be something good being built today. I have never seen his majesty working throughout the whole day."

"Haven't you heard? His majesty is building this stuff in haste because he wants to impress his baby that doesn't want to stay in his old palace."

The assassin from Magyo took a quick glance at Virtya's silhouette and smiled under the flash light of the lightening. This was a genuine smile. His tattered attire was totally drenched which made his smile to look hideous. He stomped his feet into the marshy terrain and together with the other robust male workers, they lifted the extra long H beam and then they stepped onto the narrow wooden bridge that was made recently. This bridge was built with huge logs and it didn't have the railing that one could hold onto as they traveled to the other end. The huge volume of the river water brushed against the wooden pillars of the bridge and even some water managed to splash onto the surface of the bridge and the bridge lightly swayed from side to side as if the flowing water was threatening to uproot it and carry it towards the waterfall. However, even if this ultra dangerous bridge was swaying, the workers were indifferent as they grit their teeth and stepped onto the bridge with the extra long H beam steel on their shoulders.
