"Dodged it? Impressive Observation Haki."
Hancock's eyes remained blank as she watched Ace and the others escape the Thunder Prison created by her Ten Thousand Thunders of Destruction. Her voice held a faint note of approval.
But her beautiful dark blue eyes quickly flashed with cold resolve. "Well, enough warming up."
*Zizizi*
As she spoke, crackling dark red lightning—not the usual blue or purple—began to surround her body, signalling she was tapping into her full Haki powers.
In addition to her Conqueror's Infusion, Hancock prepared to use Observation of Haki's Future Sight and Armament of Haki's internal and external destructive power.
With her Thunder of Destruction attack starting at 500 million volts, this was Hancock's full-power mode. Everything before this had only been a warm-up, a mere test of Ace's and the others' abilities.
Now… things were serious.
Just as Hancock was about to use her electric field teleportation to finish off Ace and the others, her movement halted abruptly. She nodded slightly, murmuring, "…Understood, Master."
Clearly, Hancock had just received a remote communication from Kahn.
Due to their mastery of Observation, Haki, Kahn, Hancock, and Sonia could communicate with each other over great distances within each other's perception range. It seemed Kahn had given Hancock specific orders, prompting her to withdraw from her all-out attack mode. Calmly, she took out the Den Den Mushi she carried and dialled someone's number.
*Swish!*
After issuing instructions over the Den Den Mushi, Hancock transformed into a flash of purple lightning and vanished from mid-air.
The moment her aura disappeared, Ace and his crew tensed up, anxiously scanning the area as if expecting her to reappear at any moment.
Instead of re-engaging with them, Hancock left the shore to rendezvous with Kahn.
*Squeak…* "Barrier – Four-Sided Barrier!"
Just as Ace and Sabo noticed Hancock's aura fade, a sound like a door opening reached their ears.
Their senses heightened as the unexpected sound echoed from the coast. Before they could locate its source, a young girl's voice suddenly cut through the silence.
In the blink of an eye, four barriers materialized, enclosing Ace and his companions in a way reminiscent of the Four Purple Flame Formation and Four Red Yang Formation from the Naruto world.
"Stagnation Light Wave—"
Simultaneously, pink waves, similar to the effects of the Paramecia-type Sweet Fruit, emanated from the air door. They expanded in wide circles, rippling through Ace and the others trapped within the barrier.
They instinctively tried to dodge, but with no escape route, they froze mid-movement as if time itself had paused.
Since Ace and the others didn't activate Armament Haki or Conqueror's Haki in time, they fell into a 30-second stupor. This sluggishness affected not only their bodies but also their minds. Even if they tried to use Haki to break out of it, they would need at least ten seconds, maybe more, to recover.
For any powerful enemy, this window of time would be enough to end their lives countless times over.
Then came another attack.
"ROOM - Cut!"
A wave resembling a fusion of the Barrier-Barrier Fruit and the Slow-Slow Fruit expanded and swept over Ace and his comrades, stretching across half of Wano Country.
*Puff Chi Chi…*
A cold female voice echoed from the air door, and flashes of light sliced through the frozen forms of Ace and the others, cutting their bodies into dozens of pieces. Strangely, they felt no pain, and the sliced body parts floated weightlessly in mid-air.
Monet, dressed in a maid outfit and holding a scalpel, emerged from the air door. As she appeared, Ace and the others' surroundings shifted dramatically. Their vision returned, and they found themselves standing before a group of figures. Leading them was the enigmatic Cross Kahn, who had become notoriously secretive after reaching the peak of power.
"…Thank you for your efforts."
Kahn nodded at the women who had transported Ace and the others, led by Monet, and then approached Sabo. Placing his hand on Sabo's head, which floated in mid-air, Kahn activated his advanced Observation Haki to read Sabo's memories.
Kahn had ordered Hancock to spare Ace, Sabo, and Luffy's lives to gather information. Kahn wasn't concerned about the Revolutionary Army or Monkey D. Garp's inevitable anger. His real interest was in uncovering the strength and abilities of Monkey D. Dragon, the infamous Revolutionary leader who hadn't yet revealed his full power.
In the Pirate Era, three figures stood as legends of mystery and strength:
Shanks was renowned for his powerful Haki and swordsmanship, though his true limits were still unknown.
Monkey D. Dragon, the mysterious protector of Luffy, with strength likely among the highest in the One Piece world.
Imu is the elusive figure who, like Blackbeard, had the potential to be the ultimate antagonist.
Many speculated that Dragon's Devil Fruit was a Mythical Zoan, granting him the form of a dragon. However, based on Kaido's Dragon-Dragon Fruit, the likelihood was higher that Dragon possessed a Logia-type Devil Fruit.
Kahn's speculation was based on his knowledge of natural disasters, where the three most feared were earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and hurricanes—three abilities attributed to top-tier fighters: Fleet Admiral Akainu, Whitebeard, and Dragon.
Confirming Sabo's memories, Kahn learned the truth: Dragon's Devil Fruit was indeed the Logia-class Wind-Wind Fruit.
Amused, Kahn recognized the immense power of this fruit. Its manoeuvrability and destructive potential were on par with the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, which is said to be the strongest Logia type. The only possible downside was its limited versatility compared to the Thunder Fruit.
But even this powerful Wind-Wind Fruit would meet its match against Kahn's telekinetic abilities, which could counter storms, making him Dragon's ultimate nemesis—just as Hancock was the perfect counter to a user of the Paramecia-type Gold-Gold Fruit.
