*The next day*
Yawn*
The wolf girl slowly woke up from her deep sleep, the sun rays reflecting in her eyes which caused her to squint a bit.
Now sitting down upright, she went on all fours and stretched. Her butts raised up while her chest was pushed to the ground, like a cat.
Demi humans were known to come in different species, beast people, cat people, wolves, foxes and so on. There were so many, people decided to place them under the same race.
In the middle of her stretches, the wolf girl got a sniff of something good, something that forced her mouth to water.
"Food!" She exclaimed excitedly, her body instinctively moving on its own, towards where she could smell the alluring scent.
It didn't take long for her to find it. It was a few distance from where she was. She could already see the roasting meat being hanged over a burning campfire.
But just as she was about to get closer, she spotted Ethan, sitting right on top of a rock near the fire. His back was turned to the place, so she couldn't tell what he was doing, that being said, she was still anxious.
He was dressed in a brown trouser and a blue rage, hugged around his neck like a cloak, just enough to cover his chest.
Looking back and forth at the roasting meat and Ethan, the wolf girl couldn't decide whether to take the delicious looking meat, or walk up to the man she had just met and beg for it.
"Hmmm.." She whimpered out loud, a sad look on her face before she scratched her hair angrily.
"Go ahead".
The moment she heard Ethan's voice and saw him wave his hand, a smile was instantly drawn on her face.
Ethan continued with his back still turned, "I left that for you, already had my breakfast".
"Hehehe…" She giggled, before running towards the meat and molesting it.
Sigh!
Ethan closed his eyes back, going back into his meditative state. His hands were locked together while his legs crossed, something one would normally see from monks.
'Let's try that again.' So he says to himself.
Opening his eyes, red bright light illuminated from within. Deep within his body, was the magic core of all life forms, the magic circuits.
These circuits are in all things with magic in them. Ranging from countless forms and paths that decides the type of outputs that could be generated.
For example, if two people have the same magic circuit shape and size, they will 100% give out the same magic type, which could be fire, air, and so on.
But if there was a tiny shift in the other person's magic circuits, the output will also change, hence having different magic types.
People were born with their magic circuits from birth, and these magic circuits take time to fully form, some could awaken theirs at a mere six years after birth, others higher.
Ethan on the other hand, while he was the demon lord of the burning legion, was said to own a unique skill that set him apart from the rest.
It was called The Control.
He is able to completely tweak his magic circuits in such a way that he could use any and all types of magic, as long as he was able to successfully create paths in his circuits.
Depending on how constructive the magic he wanted was, he would take more time and even more concentration and energy.
But light works, like enhanced speed, hardened body, or when changing certain parts of his body, were easy for him to do, so long as he was able to completely tweak his magic circuits.
And right now, he was about to do just that. Being in the body of a human and not a demon like his previous life, his options are heavily restricted.
At first, he was able to determine the shape of his magic circuits, and to his surprise, it was something he hadn't seen in a long time.
'A perfect shape?' He blurted out in amazement, 'An Hexagon even. It's rare to find magic circuits that aren't intertwined like woven threads'.
Concentrating even more, he was able to look deeper into his magic circuits, where he could see multiple threads connected to one another; these were the magic paths.
'With a magic circuit like this, I could potentially acquire even stronger feats than my previous life. Perhaps I should try it first….'.
He continued.
Carefully trying to change a single magic thread in his circuits, a single misstep could lead to damaging the magic circuits, or even worse, killing himself.
And just like he planned, he was successfully able to change the path of a single thread, causing the magic flow in his body to change.
But then…
Pullllgh!
He coughed out blood before falling from the rock and landing right on his face.
The wolf girl, ignorantly eating her meat, tilted her head to the side as she watched Ethan, rolling on the ground painfully while grabbing his chest.
He felt like his heart was about to stop and all he could do was desperately roll around on the ground.
After a painful second that felt like hours, the heartache stopped. And Ethan began gasping for air, sweat drops on his face as he sat upright on the ground.
'This… body.' He uttered, raising his hand up a bit to look at it, 'It's human, how could I have forgotten that'.
'Humans tend to have weak bodies, so too much tweaking of their magic circuits would lead to their death.
But for demons, they are built with stronger bodies, making it easier for me to tweak such a body, since my body could easily adapt to it… when I was a demon lord that is.'.
He sighed. Resting his back on the rock with a look of disappointment.
Pout*
'So what in the hell am I supposed to do how?.' He thought to himself.
"Ahhhhhhh!" He grunted, "How sure am I that I can even still successfully control my magic circuits!!!".
Like a blessing from the gods, his prayer was right before his very eyes.
Looking to his left, a grin showed on his face when he spotted the wolf girl still eating her meat with no care in the world.
"Well… Hello there".
