Chapitre 17: Cultivation
Darkness everywhere around me as this void surrounded me it felt suffocating, claustrophobic feeling set in, suddenly I felt like I was falling rushing towards an inevitable death I tried to call out for help, in that moment I have never felt more helpless I screamed out at the top of my lungs, "No.. AHHH PLEASE NO!"
Only to feel a warm embrace, "Shhh it's okay it's just a nightmare.." a soft voice held me I felt her warm embrace as tears fell down my face. As I opened my eyes finally out of my stupor Nephele held me in my bed. Her blackish blue eyes warmly calmed me. I reached out to touch her face as she leaned into my caress, "Ha.. you are real..." I said weakly as I continued clearing my throat, "Im.. I'm sorry.. this has never.. happened to me before."
Nephele leaned into my caress, "Its fine you helped me when I was at my lowest.. I don't mind returning the favour, you had a nightmare Lithia.. do you want to talk about it?
I remove my hand from her cheek as I sit up wiping off the sweat from my forehead as the birds chirped waking up as the morning arrived, "I.. I never show people my vulnerable side... not even my closest friends.. but for some reason I feel like I can to you.. Nephele.. I felt so alone, I felt boxed in then I was falling surrounded by nothing.." I shivered slightly as I remembered my nightmare.
Nephele started to rub my back giving me comfort, "Everything is fine Lithia.. classes start for the new week in a few hours.. what class do you have first?"
"Mm today I only have one class to attend its Cultivation." I said leaning against Nephele
"Then you can follow me Ms. Esryn is a nice teacher, come on let me make you some tea in the common room." Nephele rubbed my back as I stood slipping on a black dress then proceeding to follow her out of the room, noticing Ryoko not present in the room she must be training.
For once I allowed myself to act meekly.. yet not on purpose it was more so I felt safe not acting as though I knew the solution to everything.. it was still early morning so the common room was relatively empty a part from a few girls studying completely ignoring others.. I found a chair as a few minutes later Nephele returned sitting next to me with two tea cups in her hand, she handed one to me.
"Drink.. it will make you feel better." Without a second look I took a sip I felt the sweet tea warm my body which brought a small smile to my face.
"Thanks.. I feel more myself after this.. sorry you had to see me like that.." I said looking at the tea in my hands
Nephele giggled slightly, "Lithia we are friends, of course I don't mind seeing you like that.. in fact I was happy to help."
A few moments of sipping tea I asked, "You.. see me as a friend? I've always been surrounded by maid's and servants.. and while I have people around me I doubt they'd call me friend."
Nephele took my hands in hers, "This is great then I'll be your first friend!" She said with a great smile on her face which caused my frozen soul to melt slightly.
Unknowingly to me a small blush grew on my face.
We spent the next few hours chatting about everything and nothing I felt truly happy.. this since of happiness feels different to when I'm with Zara or Hestia. Not to say I'm not happy with them.. it's just a separate type of happy...
Eventually we left the dorm room and headed to the gardens to attend the cultivation class, upon walking through an archway made of vines and various types of flowers intertwined with each other we approached a turtle woman with long brown hair she had a shell on her back she looked elderly as she held a wooden staff covered in vines.
"Ms. Esryn! I've brought your new student!" Nephele exclaimed as we approached currently only three of us in the garden.
"So you have many thanks Disciple Silvintine start your meditation I will have a word in private with Miss. Eventyde follow me Young one."
Nephele bowed to the teacher before sitting on a rock slab closing her eyes, I followed the teacher to a secluded area of the garden.
She then turned holding a crystal ball in her scaled palm.
"Miss. Eventyde.. place your hand on this crystal.. inside the crystal are seven rings, the crystal will forcibly examine your talent for cultivation.. this will determine my teaching method for you, you may feel some discomfort but do not resist."
I nod as I place my hand on the crystal ball as soon as I do I feel a foreign energy pass through my body as if it's examining every nook and cranny of my body, my bones feel itchy my blood boils slightly as I want nothing more than to expell this from my body I bite my lip drawing blood as I resist. As one ring glowes brightly then the second ring the third ring followes then after a few seconds the fourth ring glows a minute later the fifth ring glows after another few seconds the sixth ring starts to glow and finally after another two minutes pass as Ms. Esryn startes to pull away does she stop to witness the seventh and final ring start to glow as it does the crystal cracks causing the crystal to dim to nothing.
Unfortunately I didn't witness this as I was dealing with my internal energy going crazy I felt like someone was playing ping pong in my body, unable keep standing I fell to my knees in agonizing pain, blood leaking out of my mouth.. at that moment Ms. Esryn kneeled behind me as she pressed her hands against the middle of my back. I could feel a calming energy enter my body as the calming cloud passed through my body I vomited blood as the pain started to subside I took a breathe of relief. I could hear Ms Esryn, "Deep breaths.. and focus on the energy I am injecting into your body.. in through nose... out though your mouth... feel the essence of the Heavens.. and the Earth.."
I followed her orders, my eyes closed I took a deep breath in focusing on this new energy the pain quickly subsided, I felt my consciousness hover in my center, my eyes closed however I could see all around me as clear as day motes of golden energy. I focused on absorpting the motes one by one.. all of a sudden the golden motes rushed to me as my body greedily absorbed them I felt rejuvenated. My consciousness floated to my core where I was surprised to see my mana core now looked like a massive Yin and Yang, the Golden yang comprised of those golden motes and the white yin comprised of my mana I was surprised to see my core evolved, I could still see an icy blue flame that represented my ice affinity and the black flame that represented my darkness affinity. After what seemed like a few minutes as I opened my eyes I was surprised to see a night sky above me, subconsciously I closed my eyes as my consciousness left my body to look beyond the hedge to see Ms. Esryn meditating once my eyes landed on her she opened her eyes and looked up at where my consciousness was I immediately retracted it and stood up, as I did my whole body felt sore as I held my nose as a foul pungent stink covered my body, Ms. Esryn turned the corner with a warm smile on her face, "Congratulations you broke through from the mortal rank all the way to the Earth Master it is truly stunning, however this being the case I am no longer qualified to teach you.. so in that case I recommend you to be transferred to the year 4 Cultivation class, you are an absolute peerless genius in the art of magic and Cultivation you are truly an enigma as a teacher I couldn't be more proud have had your in my class even though It was for just one day.. I also recommend you to be exempted from that stupid etiquette class. Tomorrow meet me here ill take you to meet yout new teacher."
I bowed to the turtle woman, "Since I didn't get to learn from you could we cultivate together until we have to leave?"
"Of course we may, that is a better idea since we would be meeting here in a few hours anyways."
With that Ms. Esryn and I sat next to each other in the lotus position she tought me the basics and informed me that I had achieved Spiritual Sight the ability to observe my surroundings whole meditating. As soon as the sun rises both Esryn and I stood, she placed her wooden staff on the ground as she prompted me to step on it as she did confused I listened I was stunned to see the staff float, Esryn smiled as she kept me steady as her staff began to fly off into the distance, I couldn't help but to be amazed. Although I wished to look around and ask questions I kept my focus on keeping balance. After a few hours the staff landed outside a cave next to a mountain, this mountain was so tall I couldn't see the top as it was shrouded by clouds, a moment later I felt a domineering pressure pushing me to my knees I decided to circulate my Qi and my mana after this process started I felt the pressure lessen so much so as I was able to stand once more. A male voice exited the cave, "Oh my it seems I underestimated you perhaps you will be a promising student after all."
I then heard a clicking of steps moving towards the mouth of the cave as the man approached from the darkness a young man with light blue hair and antler like horns adorned his head, his eyes were amber and lizard like, her was handsome and looked to be in mid 20s his cloths were rather odd for this world as they looked like Chinese white robes with a light blue serpentine dragons on the robes, a sword strapped to his hip that looked like a Jian blade with a slightly curved ivory handle and dragon mouth pommel, I could see a thick lizard like tail dragging behind him.
He spoke again, "Greetings young one my name is Fei Tianlong I will be your new master. Esryn has already gotten approved from your Academy for you to study under me I look forward to our training Student Lithia."
This man seemed ephemeral sort of like if I turned away from him he wouldn't exist, he sort of reminded me of Lilith but different somehow.
As if reading my mind he spoke, "Mm how perceptive of you indeed you could say I am like Lilith but also nothing like her." As the man smiled at my stunned expression.
"If you become my student I will of course pass everything to you including my knowledge of gods and such. Thank you Esryn I will return her to the academy grounds later."
Esryn nodded and bowed as she left Fei continued, "I know many things I know about your history with the Light Elves.. I also know your soul is not from this world."
A flash of panic filled me.
"Don't panic I understand your reasoning and while your methods were a bit violent I am not looking down on your choices.. if someone hurt those close to me I would have done all within my power to make the attackers pay. As for your soul worry not, I don't care If your soul originated here or not, actually the fact you too are not from this world gives me a significant amount of interest in you as I am also not from this world.. yet do to circumstances I am bound here, you are wondering why I am speaking so much?"
I simply nodded genuinely confused as he continued, "Become my student and let us breakthrough the boundaries of this world together. So what do you say?"
I take a moment to digest the information given "I really don't have anything to loose.. for some reason he feels trustworthy.. similarly to the feeling I get when I'm with Nephele." I think to myself.
"I will become your student." Fei then stepped forward as he put his hand in to the air, "I swear on the heavens to never betray Lithia Eventyde, to now be her teacher but eventually be her friend, should I go against this let the heavens strike me down."
Thunder shook the sky as I did the same, "I swear to the heavens to never betray Fei Tianlong to now be his student but eventually be his friend, should I go against this let the heavens strike me down.
Thunder erupted in the sky's above again looking satisfied, "Drink from my hand this is my first gift to my student." Without question I felt as my fangs extended as I bit into his skin I begain sucking his blood. His blood tasted divine the best blood I had ever tasted, I felt power flow through me as I did I felt my vision fade as I collapsed. "Woah.. rest now absorb this, I shall help you my precious student..
