Chapitre 6: Suspicions and Revelations

As Hiruzen Sarutobi waited for Jay in his office, his thoughts were preoccupied with the boy's mysterious origin and potent abilities. The concept of the Will of Fire, which emphasized loyalty and the love of the village, was always central to Hiruzen's leadership philosophy. Could this young stranger truly embody these ideals, or is his sudden emergence a threat to our way of life? he pondered.

Jay entered the office, aware of the gravity of this meeting. He recognized that Hiruzen's concerns were not just about security but also about whether he could genuinely commit to Konoha's values.

"Hokage-sama, I understand your concerns about my sudden arrival and abilities," Jay began, his tone sincere. "I've learned about the Will of Fire— the belief that shapes this great village. When the tree leaves dance, One shall find flames. The fire's shadow will illuminate the village, And once again, tree leaves shall bud anew. It resonates deeply with what my mentors taught me about with great power comes great responsibility."

"Thanks Spidey", Jay laughs inwardly.

Hiruzen looked intently at Jay, trying to discern the truth in his words. The invocation of the Will of Fire was a powerful appeal, one that spoke directly to Hiruzen's deepest convictions as a leader.

Jay continued, his voice steady and compelling, "I've seen how the will of fire ignites every shinobi here to protect their loved ones and their home with a fierce devotion. This is why I wish to stay, to contribute and uphold these values. If you allow me, I will prove my dedication to Konoha and its people, not as an outsider but as a member of this community."

Hiruzen's eyes softened slightly, touched by Jay's understanding and articulation of such a core principle. Perhaps he truly wishes to embrace our ways. The Will of Fire is not a concept easily grasped, even by those born within these walls, Hiruzen thought, reassessing his initial skepticism.

"Your words remind us of the ideals we all strive to live by," Hiruzen acknowledged, feeling a blend of caution and hope. "We will give you the chance to demonstrate your commitment, Jay. You will be placed under observation, and your actions will determine your place within our village."

Hidden from view, Orochimaru's interest piqued as he listened to Jay skillfully navigate the conversation with Hiruzen. Using the Will of Fire to solidify his position—clever and bold. This boy is more than just power; he has a mind for strategy. Perhaps I need to accelerate my plans.

As Jay left the Hokage's office, a mix of relief and determination settled over him. He knew invoking the Will of Fire was a gamble, but it was one that paid off, buying him time and goodwill. Now the real work begins, he thought, preparing for the scrutiny and opportunities that lay ahead.

As the days turned into weeks, Jay's integration into Konoha deepened. His public acts of kindness and his displays of seemingly miraculous abilities had made him a beloved figure among the villagers. Yet, beneath the surface of this benevolent child lay a strategist with a complex plan, one aimed at altering one of Konoha's most tragic tales—the downfall of Sakumo Hatake.

Sakumo, respected throughout the village for his strength and leadership, was also known for the weight of responsibility he carried on his shoulders. This burden was something Jay had studied closely, understanding that the famed White Fang of Konoha was nearing the precipice of his historical end.

One evening, as Jay sat with Sakumo and Kakashi in their living room, he carefully broached the subject that he knew would lead him closer to his goal. "Mr. Hatake," Jay began, his voice carrying a carefully measured tone of concern and curiosity. "Kakashi tells me you were a great hero in the war. It must have been really tough."

Sakumo, taken aback by the directness of the question from someone so young, paused, his expression somber. "It was a difficult time," he admitted slowly, his eyes distant. "Being a shinobi means making hard choices for the sake of the village."

Jay nodded solemnly, his eyes locking with Sakumo's. "But you saved so many lives, right? That must count for a lot."

Sakumo's face softened, a hint of pride mixed with sadness. "Yes, but sometimes, the choices we make can have... unforeseen consequences."

Recognizing the opening he needed, Jay leaned forward. "But if you had the chance to make those choices again, knowing what you know now, could things be different?" he asked, planting the seed of doubt and possibility in Sakumo's mind.

Sakumo looked at Jay, struck by the maturity of the question. "Perhaps," he conceded after a moment, his voice barely above a whisper.

Encouraged by Sakumo's response, Jay decided to push a little further. Over the following days, he spent more time with Sakumo, often discussing the philosophy of leadership and the burdens of command. Jay's questions and comments were designed to make Sakumo reflect on his past decisions and consider the potential of different choices—choices that might not lead him down the path of despair.

Meanwhile, Jay continued to strengthen his bond with Kakashi, becoming an almost brother-like figure to him. His ultimate goal was to create a strong emotional bond that would tie him to both Hatakes, ensuring that when the time came, they would both see him as indispensable.

As the fateful day of Sakumo's historical demise drew nearer, Jay's interventions became more targeted. He began to subtly manipulate the situations around Sakumo, creating scenarios where Sakumo's decisions led to positive outcomes, boosting his confidence and altering his perception of his own legacy.

One afternoon, as they walked through the village, Jay deliberately led Sakumo to a situation where a group of villagers was in need. With Jay's subtle guidance, Sakumo took charge, resolving the crisis efficiently. The villagers' grateful praises filled the air, and Sakumo's chest swelled with a renewed sense of purpose and pride.

"See, Mr. Hatake? What you do, it really matters. You make a difference every day," Jay said, his voice earnest, his green eyes glowing with an intensity that seemed to reach right into Sakumo's soul.

Sakumo looked down at Jay, his expression one of dawning realization. "Maybe you're right, Jay. Maybe there's still more I can do."

With each passing day, Jay's manipulations grew more profound, weaving a new narrative for Sakumo—a narrative of hope and redemption. As Jay lay in bed each night, he plotted the next steps, each one carefully designed to pull Sakumo back from the brink of despair and secure the affection and trust of young Kakashi.

Jay knew the stakes were high. Success meant altering one of Konoha's darkest moments and securing his place in the heart of the village. Failure was not an option he was willing to consider.
